Nottinghamshire Freemasons

Nottinghamshire Freemasons Welcome to the home of Freemasonry in Nottinghamshire. If you are interested in learning more, now is the time to Discover Freemasonry.

The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales and the Channel Islands. The country is divided into geographical areas and the Masonic province of Nottinghamshire is known as the Provincial Grand Lodge of Nottinghamshire. The head of Freemasonry in Nottinghamshire is known as the Provincial Grand Master appointed by UGLE. The PGM, as he is known, h

as a Deputy and two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters to help him. The head office is based in the imposing building on Goldsmith Street, Nottingham. The purpose of Provincial Grand Lodge is to be the interface between UGLE and the Lodges that meet in the various Masonic centres around the Province. Although the officers of Provincial Grand Lodge are essentially unpaid volunteers, the organisation operates in a similar manner to a large company with brethren nominated to work in the different sections – administration, finance, ceremonial, training, mentoring, information technology, charities, benevolence etc.

Nottinghamshire Freemasons are proud to see Josh Lee-Taylor, a member of Walesby Forest Lodge, recognised for his outstanding commitment to Scouting and the local community.

A Scout leader from Nottingham for over 12 years, Josh highlights the strong connection between Freemasonry and Scouting, with more than 40 lodges across the country affiliated with scouting groups. His youth-focused lodge supports local organisations not only through fundraising, but also by giving time and practical help — including decorating Scout huts and supporting community spaces.

A fantastic example of Freemasonry in action, making a positive difference for young people across Nottinghamshire. 💙

🌿 A Blooming Success at the Garden of Reflection 🌿

On Sunday 10th May, members of the Nottinghamshire Freemasons and their families once again came together for the annual spring planting at the beautiful Garden of Reflection at Portland College.

The day began bright and early with the Committee visiting Shirley’s Nursery to carefully select this season’s plants, before heading to Portland College where teamwork, dedication, and plenty of good spirit soon transformed the garden into a vibrant and welcoming space once more. 🌸🌼

Thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of everyone involved, the planting was completed in impressive fashion before all returned home for a well-earned Sunday lunch. The garden now looks absolutely fabulous and stands as a lasting example of the care, friendship, and community spirit that runs throughout our Province.

We would also like to remind all Brethren, families, and friends that the Garden of Reflection remains open throughout the year — offering a peaceful haven for quiet contemplation and reflection, whether the flowers are in full bloom or the garden is newly planted.

A sincere thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to make the day such a success. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and continue to make a real difference. 💙

My Bag Charity and Teddies For Loving Care Bringing Comfort to Local Children Entering Foster Care.

When a child enters care, it’s often sudden, confusing, and deeply unsettling. Across Nottinghamshire, My Bag Charity is helping change that—providing essential items that restore a sense of dignity and normality in a moment of difficulty.

Now, through a meaningful partnership with Teddies for Loving Care (TLC), every bag will continue to include a comforting teddy bear—kindly sponsored by TLC. This support allows us to direct more resources towards other vital comfort items, ensuring each child receives not just the basics, but something personal, reassuring, and truly their own.

With the support of Nottinghamshire Freemasons, this collaboration transforms practical help into something far more powerful: care that recognises both emotional and physical needs.

Because in life’s most difficult moments, every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and not alone.

Standing : Nottinghamshire Leading Life-Saving Change

Nottinghamshire Freemasons stood proudly at the UK’s first Stop the Bleed conference in Newark—championing action, unity, and life-saving skills. 💙

At Castle House, alongside the powerful Knife Angel, Peter Gregory, Community Lead for Nottinghamshire Freemasons together with partners from across the community came together with one shared mission: empower ordinary people to save lives.

From hands-on training to powerful personal stories, the message was clear—any one of us can make the difference.

This is Freemasonry in action: compassionate, practical, and committed to stronger, safer communities.

Together, Nottinghamshire is leading the way—building resilience, inspiring pride, and proving that when we stand united, we can protect and care for those who need it most.

One Night. One Milestone. A Brotherhood He’ll Never Forget 👏

12th April was a truly special occasion at Round Table Lodge of Nottinghamshire 8604, as Brother Chris Barnes took the next important step in his Masonic journey and was Raised to the rank of Master Mason.

It was an evening filled with pride, tradition, and strong support, with a fantastic number of visitors joining the Lodge to witness and celebrate the occasion. Nights like these show what Freemasonry is really about — friendship, personal growth, and being surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you succeed.

Becoming a Master Mason marks an important milestone, not just within Freemasonry, but in a man’s personal journey of learning, character, and belonging.

Brother Chris is pictured alongside Worshipful Master David Evanson after what was a memorable and successful evening for everyone involved.

Moments like this remind us that no man walks his path alone. 🤝

He Walked In Knowing No One… He Left With Brothers 🤝✨

On Friday evening, Clumber Lodge 8199 welcomed Mike for a very special milestone — his first step into Freemasonry through his Initiation ceremony.

For many people, Freemasonry can seem a mystery from the outside, but at its heart, it’s simply about friendship, support, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself.

It’s about finding a place where people genuinely look out for one another, where lifelong friendships are built, and where personal growth and helping the local community go hand in hand.

Friday was the start of that journey for Mike.
He arrived as a guest, but left as part of a brotherhood built on trust, kindness, and belonging.

Moments like these remind us that nobody should have to walk through life alone.
A huge congratulations and warm welcome to Brother Mike 👏🔵
