Did you know that in age-old traditions, forked twigs of hazel were used by diviners in folk practices to locate underground water sources, a method known as dowsing.

Some still use this method today!

๐Ÿ Beesโ€™ Needs Week is here. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ Beesโ€™ Needs Week 2026 runs from today until July 19, helping to raise awareness of the importance of bees and other pollinators!

There are five simple actions that anyone can take to help pollinators:
๐ŸŒผ Grow more nectar rich flowers, shrubs and trees. Using window or balcony boxes are good options if you do not have a garden
๐ŸŒผ Let patches of garden and land grow wild
๐ŸŒผ Cut grass less often
๐ŸŒผ Do not disturb insect nests and hibernation spots
๐ŸŒผ Think carefully about whether to use pesticides

Thereโ€™s been rumors, and now itโ€™s been officially announced, the legendary Major Oak has died. ๐ŸŒณ
So many of us have amazing memories of visiting Sherwood Forest and the Major Oak.
Whatโ€™s your favorite memory of the Major Oak?
Drop a photo or a comment below.

The Major Oak has died.

The ancient giant, the meeting place, the folklore legend, the keeper of stories. This tree has meant so many different things to so many different people.

This is news weโ€™ve all been expecting as weโ€™ve watched it coming to the end of its life, but it is no less sad now that itโ€™s confirmed and the hope of new leaves is gone.

Many of us grew up under that tree, on family walks, school trips and adventures in the forest; it has been part of our lives for as long as we can remember.

Weโ€™re reflecting on what this majestic tree has meant to us, the memories we hold, and the old photos weโ€™re looking back on.

What memories do you have? We would love to hear your stories and see your photos too. ๐Ÿ’š
