Dear All Members,
I regret to inform you that from Sunday 30th June I will be standing down as chair of the branch. It has been an honour to serve as your last branch chair of the Nottingham Branch and the first as the Nottinghamshire branch. There will be no immediate election to replace me. After discussion with the RCN Regional office and governance, it has been agreed that due to the short time frame before the branch AGM, and following the organisations rules, it would be at the AGM where a new chair would be elected. In the mean time both the secretary and the treasurer are both able to make executive decisions with support from the other members of the executive team.

Below is a copy of the letter I sent to the regional office back in June. I want to thank you all for your support and wish you all well in the future.

Kind Regards
Andi Robinson

Dear Teresa,
I am writing to inform you that I will be standing down as chair of the Nottinghamshire branch effective form 1st July 2024. I announced to the branch my intention of standing down from this date at the branch meeting which was held on 14th May 2024. The reason for this is that my new employment is outside of the branch, therefore, I am illegible to continue in my role. By writing to you at this time, it will enable the governance machine to whirl into action to decide what will happen from this date. The branch AGM is due to be held on the 17th September 2024.

I want to place on record my thanks to those who have served in the branch executive of both Nottingham and now Nottinghamshire, without which I know I would not have been able to fulfil my role. I also want to thank you and all of those within the East Midlands office, who throughout my time with the branch have been one of huge support, both professionally and personally.

It is not an understatement when I say that I am incredibly proud that I was the final chair of the Nottingham branch and the first for the Nottinghamshire branch. It is something that I look forward to telling Martha when she grows up. I want to wish the branch all the best for the future.

However, it is not without regret that to date we have failed to engage more with those that would previously have been in the North Nottingham branch. Although, with a new rep starting in SFH there maybe green shoots coming forth. Again, certainly could not have been achieved without the hard work of your staff.

That been said, there is still work to do in my final days as chair of the branch with the need to survey members to find out how we can get more engagement and attendance at branch as well as supporting those who are going to attend RCN Congress 2024.

While I leave the branch, I will not be leaving the East Midlands and I look forward to continuing working with the region in whatever capacity that maybe.

Kind Regards

Andrew Robinson

Nursing Support Workers Committee elections - Nominations Close 11th December 2023

Could you be the next East Midlands Nursing Support Worker Committee Member?

The committee is made up of members from across the UK. If you're an NSW member in East Midlands, London or South West regions, or in Northern Ireland or Wales, there's currently an opportunity for you to put yourself forward to join the committee.

This is a voluntary, elected role. Any expenses you incur when carrying out your committee role, such as for travel to meetings and events, will be paid by the RCN, and you will be provided with lunch and refreshments when attending full day meetings. We can also support you to speak to your employer to agree your release from work for committee meetings and other commitments relating to the committee role. Please contact [email protected] with any questions regarding our expenses policy or securing release from work for committee duties.
