On 16 October 2024, The African Women Empowerment Forum Charity, in partnership with The British Council on Human Rights and the Family Mentors Association, hosted the Human Rights and Wellbeing Seminar at the Birchpark Community Hub (BPCH). The event brought together community leaders, activists, refugees, sanctuary seekers and residents to discuss human rights provisions within the UK, focusing on how these rights are applied in diverse communities.

Key topics included access to justice, discrimination, and the protection of vulnerable groups, with participants sharing personal stories and experiences related to human rights challenges. The seminar also emphasized mental and emotional wellbeing, exploring how violations of rights can impact individuals and communities.

The event served as a platform for collaboration, where leaders and advocates brainstormed solutions and initiatives to raise awareness and improve the protection of human rights locally. The discussions concluded with a commitment to ongoing dialogue and collective action to address these critical issues.
