What a fantastic day on the water yesterday Hunter's Yard! Our Young Carers had a great time learning how to sail on their traditional wooden boats. We learned about the history of Hunter's Yard, and practised tying different types of knots. We even tried making our own mini sailboats to race across the water! Thank you for having us.

Did you know 56% of schools recorded no young carers on the 2026 school census?

These children are there. They're just invisible.

Young carers arrive at school every day having already cared for a parent, managed medication, or got siblings ready. They are exhausted and unseen by the very institutions that should be supporting them.

There's a petition calling for a Young Carer Champion in every school in England. One trusted adult. 30 seconds to sign. A potential lifetime of difference for a child who just needs someone to see them.

Our Education and Community worker for the East, Sarah, had a great day ormistonventureacademy for their Young Carer Activity Day. Young Carers from 6 different local schools came together for a day of fun! Sarah supported them to make a caterpillar keyrings from buttons!
