To celebrate our centenary year, weโ€™re looking back at some of the moments that helped shape the countryside we know today.

Today, weโ€™re taking you back to 1949. Following CPRE's 20-year campaign, National Parks were created and were given equal access to Areas of Outstanding Natural beauty (now known as National Landscapes).๐ŸŒณ

It established Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), National Nature Reserves and National Trails, helping expand public access to nature for generations to come.๐Ÿ‘ฃ
