A huge thank you for the warm welcome to Sophia Afzal and the incredible team at Ladywood & Soho Children's Hubs, and to Hall Green Family Hub — with gratitude to Faizia Asad and Zaheer Rafiq for the connection and alignment.

These moments of coming together truly reflect the essence of the Chrysalis Foundation — raising awareness, creating safe spaces, and supporting children, families, and communities through trauma-informed tools and gentle conversations.

🏛️ In Liverpool again for Youth Court Solutions!

Last week we were outside Queen Elizabeth II Court with some incredible people doing vital work across Merseyside — Sharon from Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership, Jim Ross, Manager at St Helens Youth Justice Service, and Chelsea and Beth, Youth Custody Navigators based at Copy Lane Police Station in Sefton.

Chelsea and Beth work out of a truly outstanding trauma-informed suite at Copy Lane — designed with young people's needs at the heart of everything. From vinyl feature walls and a comfortable, welcoming space to fidget toys, easy-read books, and crayons — right through to a space-themed glow-in-the-dark ceiling in their trauma-informed cell, complete with a large chalkboard and 24-hour digital clock.

This is what child-centred justice looks like in practice.

🤝 It was also a pleasure to join the Hodge Hill Family Hub planning meeting.

A valuable opportunity to introduce myself, The Crysalys Foundation, and the Children’s STAR Project—and to begin meaningful conversations about how we can work together to support families and communities, in alignment with our shared values.

🌱 New Website Launch – Tackling Trauma: A Gentle Place to Begin 🤍

This website has been created to support 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 around trauma. 🧠

It is designed to 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, not replace them.

For those who may need additional or more specialist support, there are many trusted services available across the UK. A directory is included within the site to help guide you towards further support where needed.

📍 Liverpool Visit – Youth Court Solutions (YCS)

At the start of the month, Jane travelled to Liverpool to support the ongoing development of the Youth Court Solutions (YCS) project, which is due to launch in Merseyside soon.

During the visit, key meetings took place with partners including:
• Youth Justice Services
• HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)
• Liaison and Diversion Service
• Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
• Merseyside Police

Jane also attended the second Merseyside YCS Working Group meeting, where partners came together to review progress and shape the next phase of the programme.

It was a highly productive visit, with strong collaboration across agencies and strong momentum building ahead of launch.

We’re excited to share more updates as the programme continues to develop 👏

🌸 A Special Mother’s Day with Star 🌸

Star was out for Mother’s Day lunch (15th March) at the Northampton & County Club, enjoying a wonderful roast beef 🥂

It was a lovely way to celebrate the love, care and strength that mothers bring into the world every single day 💛

From quiet moments to joyful ones, it’s a reminder that motherhood isn’t just about one day — it’s in the everyday acts of patience, guidance, and unconditional love.

At Crysalys Foundation, we recognise the powerful role mothers and caregivers play in shaping safe, supported futures for young people.
Today, we celebrate you.

📍 Youth Court Solutions arrived in Herefordshire yesterday.

🏛️ Herefordshire High Sheriff, Helen Bowden, and incoming High Sheriff (2026–2027), Tamsin Clive DL, met with our Head of Innovation, Jane Deamer, alongside HMCTS and the Chair of the Youth Bench, to discuss the start of a Youth Court Solutions project at Hereford Justice Centre in 2026 🤝

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆

UK food charity, The Trussell Trust , has redefined poverty using the term, Hunger and Hardship.

The Trust claims using this definition that 9.3 Million UK people (including 3 Million children) are or are more likely to use food banks.

One in 7 of the UK’s population are struggling due to low household income and financial vulnerability.

Food bank network Trussell has developed term to define deep poverty – but what does this mean, who is affected by it, and why?
