Brompton AFC juniors Remarkable First Season With Final Victory

Brompton rounded off a remarkable debut season in style with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Bedale in the final.

As a brand-new club this season, Brompton have exceeded expectations throughout the campaign, and their dominant display in the final showcased just how far the young side has come in such a short space of time.

Going into the match, coaches knew Bedale would provide a stern test and made sure the squad were fully prepared during training earlier in the week.

Speaking after the game, the management praised both the players’ attitude and their willingness to contribute ideas as a team ahead of the final.

The game started at a frantic pace, with Bedale creating the first opportunity. A dipping strike looked destined for the top corner, only for goalkeeper Jack to produce what many described as the “save of the season,” brilliantly tipping the effort over the bar.

That moment seemed to spark Brompton into life. With Max causing problems down the right, Benji threatening on the left, and Omar covering every blade of grass, Brompton began to take control. Their first big chance came when the midfield combined superbly to send Ollie through on goal, but after rounding the keeper, his effort was somehow cleared off the line.

Brompton were not to be denied for long. Omar whipped in a dangerous cross which a Bedale defender could only divert into his own net to give Brompton the lead.

Soon after, the advantage doubled when Max fired in a fierce shot that the goalkeeper could only parry into the path of Ollie, who volleyed home from close range.

Ted was outstanding in the holding midfield role, breaking up play and collecting loose balls throughout the half. His quality was on full display when he threaded a perfect pass through to Ollie, who raced clear and smashed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Despite Bedale continuing to battle, Brompton’s defence stood firm. Elliott,Stanley and Rupert were solid at the back, while Jack remained in excellent form between the posts.

The fourth goal arrived after Max delivered another dangerous ball across goal for Benji to smash home a superb half-volley into the corner.

The final goal of the half was perhaps the most satisfying for the coaching staff, coming from a corner routine the team had worked on in training for weeks. Ollie laid the ball off to Ted, whose powerful strike was parried by the goalkeeper, only for Ollie to react quickest and complete his hat-trick.

Brompton went into half-time with a commanding 5-0 lead.

The second half saw Tom, Dylan and Noah introduced from the bench, with all three maintaining the intensity and energy levels. Bedale managed to pull a goal back with a well-worked counter-attacking move, but Brompton continued to push forward.

There was still time for one final moment of quality as the ball fell to Ollie on the edge of the box, and he delicately lifted it over the goalkeeper to score his fourth goal of the match and his remarkable 60th goal of the season.

MOM- could have easily gone to 5 or 6 players, but after a remarkable season and the togetherness the team shows I can’t just pick one so goes to the whole team. I am so proud of these lads for what they have achieved they should be all on cloud 9
Well done lads 🔵🟡🦁❤️

Today Brompton welcomed Thirsk for the last league game of the season! The gaffer was away on very important business over in the states so Mark and Stu were at the wheel!

Brompton knew it would be a tough test going off the other games this season against Thirsk.

Brompton started slowly in difficult windy conditions, but once they got a foothold in the game they soon settled down and played like we knew they can.

After some patient build up play, Ted played a lovely through ball to Benji who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner after a decisive run through the defensive line!

Brompton then found their mojo and started playing some lovely football. Ollie latched onto another Ted through ball and finished well under pressure.

Before half time Brompton got a third. Max with a lovely finish from just inside the box after a Benji lay off.

Thirsk replied just before the break with a well taken goal.

HT 3-1

Second half Mark and Stu made a couple of changes but the lads responded well. Jack played a lovely ball over the top and Ollie raced onto it and finished with a hard rocket into the top of the net!

Ollie then got his well deserved hat trick after a corner from Ted made its way through to the back stick and Ollie finished well!

Thirsk scored another well worked goal just before Benji fed a lovely ball through to Max who finished with composure to beat the on rushing goalkeeper!

FT 6-2

Today's man of the match went to the man mountain Rupert. He was absolutely superb at the back today and was a rock. Well done lad!

Well done to the kids today. They could have easily taken the foot off the gas after a long campaign in the league, but Mark reiterated to them before the outset that they have the chance to win every game this season and the boys delivered!

VAR being checked to see if ollie had 4 goals and not 3 ver important as he wants to get to 60 before the end of season

Thanks to the parents for helping set up and tidy away. It's much appreciated. Our next competitive game is the cup final! We go again!

⚽️Richmond 1 – 3 Brompton⚽️⚽️⚽️

Going into today’s semi-final, we knew the boys would need to raise their game after a couple of poor performances, especially against a Richmond side on the up, having lost only one game in 2026.

After five minutes, it was clear we were in for a tough match. We made a couple of changes, with Ted pushing into midfield, and this quickly paid off. Ted unleashed an absolute rocket that was well saved by the Richmond keeper, but the ever-lively Ollie reacted first to smash in the rebound.

The second goal came soon after. A ball over the top from Ted found Ollie, who struck it on the half-volley, giving the keeper no chance as it flew superbly into the top corner. Ralph was then introduced to strengthen the midfield following a series of strong challenges from Richmond.

HT: 0–2

The second half began in a similar fashion, with the defence in control and the midfield pushing forward in search of a third. It came through the tireless Omar, whose shot slipped under the Richmond keeper.

Brompton were later awarded a penalty after another foul on Ollie, but unfortunately the spot kick was missed. This seemed to lift Richmond, and they managed to pull a goal back. The game became end-to-end, with Richmond then awarded a penalty of their own. This was brilliantly saved by our number one, Jack, who also produced a couple more outstanding saves throughout the half.

A special mention for the tackle of the game from Rupert late on. With a Richmond forward through on goal, out of nowhere came Rupert with one of the hardest yet fairest tackles seen this season.

FT: 1–3

A big shoutout to the defence—Stan, Elliott, and Rupert—and the spine of the team: Ted and Omar in midfield, with Ollie leading the line. All were superb today, winning key battles and working tirelessly for the team.

Man of the Match – Jack

A couple of weeks ago, I felt Jack had lost his mojo, but after some extra training with Mark and a few good chats, he came back with a bang today. He was superb throughout—constantly organising, making crucial saves, and topping it off with a penalty stop.

Jack has been with us since day one, and we’re incredibly proud of the player he has become. Brompton’s number one—excellent work, mate 👊

Thirsk 0 – 4 Brompton ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

After a disappointing display last week, the boys were eager to get back out on the pitch and put things right. They got off to a flyer against Thirsk, with Ted popping the ball over the top for Ollie to race onto and finish well.

The boys kept pushing, and two goals from the impressive Benji, along with a superb left-footed strike from Omar, put the game to bed before the break.

Half-time: Thirsk 0 – 4 Brompton

In the second half we were playing into the wind and made a lot of changes, which seemed to disrupt the rhythm of the game. As a result, we only managed to create a few half chances. Defensively we looked solid, with Jack only really needing to make one superb block.

Another win while playing well below our best, so there’s plenty to work on in training this week before we face Richmond in the cup semi-final next Saturday.

Man of the Match: Benji – two goals again this week and worked his socks off while playing in a couple of different positions. One of our smaller players, but he never pulls out of a tackle and keeps getting himself into great positions to score and create goals. Keep it up, mate 👊

⚽️Thirsk 1 – 12 Brompton ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

The boys went into today’s game knowing it was a defence of the cup. After some excellent training sessions over half term, they were fully prepared and ready to take on Thirsk.

The game began with Thirsk defending strongly on a very fast pitch. Brompton, however, moved the ball confidently and with real purpose from back to front. Ted made the breakthrough with a superbly delivered free kick, and Max soon made it two with a tidy finish. Benji, after terrorising their centre-back, thought he had added a third, but it was ruled out for offside 👀

In the second half, Brompton started in the same vein — dominating with passion and working extremely hard. We switched off for a moment and allowed Thirsk to pull a goal back, but that seemed to poke the bear. The response was outstanding.

Tom scored two screamers, Ted added another three to his tally, and Elliott scored directly from a corner. Ollie grabbed the other four goals, but even more pleasing was his first-half performance — battling, holding the ball up, and leading the line superbly.

It’s easy to give all the credit to the lads going forward, but a massive shout-out goes to Jack Stanners, Elliott, Rupert, and Dylan for starting attacks and supporting every move from the back.

We now move into the semi-final, along with our final three league games, full of confidence. Excellent work, lads.

Man of the Match – 2 awarded today

Omar played in central midfield, and his work rate was outstanding — especially considering he is observing Ramadan. He didn’t miss a tackle and covered every blade of grass.

Tom only scores good goals, and today was no exception with two brilliant strikes. He never once pulled out of a challenge. His confidence has grown so much this season, and it’s fantastic to see.

Top work, lads 👊
