The North West Air Ambulance Charity’s helicopters and HEMS response vehicles operate 365 days a year and last year attended over 2500 incidents. Our crew delivers enhanced pre-hospital care to the most critically ill and injured, and transports patients to the most appropriate hospital to achieve the best outcomes. We receive no government or NHS funding and must raise over £9.5 million to keep u

70 walks. 70 days. 70 years of life celebrated in the most incredible way 💙

Oldham resident Pat Hibbert walked 5 miles every day for 70 consecutive days, raising £1,500 after a life-changing incident in her family.

Her son-in-law Mike was seriously injured in 2024, and NWAA critical care paramedics helped save his life at the roadside.

Pat said she thinks about that day often, and believes Mike wouldn’t be here without the air ambulance.

On her 70th birthday, surrounded by 15 family members, she completed her final walk.

Thank you to Pat and her family for supporting NWAA 💙🚁

A huge congratulations to our fantastic Longridge charity shop team, who have once again taken first prize for their window display at the Longridge Field Day! 👏

This year's winning display was inspired by the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, showcasing the team's incredible creativity, hard work, and attention to detail ✨

May in numbers 📊

Behind every call-out is a patient who needed urgent, advanced care, and our crews were there throughout May, across the North West.

This month, we were called out 366 times, with demand highest in Greater Manchester. Our aircraft H72 was the busiest of the fleet, responding to 106 incidents.

The majority of missions were for serious medical emergencies, and our crews carried out critical interventions including:

🩸 17 blood transfusions at scene
🩺 28 RSI (Rapid Sequence Inductions), a procedure used to protect the brain and airway in critical emergencies

Every figure represents real people, real emergencies, and rapid response when it matters most.

None of this happens without your support, thank you for helping keep our service operational and ready to respond 🚁
