The Bay Foodbank provides emergency food provision to individuals or families across North Tyneside experiencing a financial crisis. You can be referred to us by the North Tyneside Council, DWP, Citizens Advice Bureau, Schools, Doctors, Social services and other support agencies.

National Volunteers Week

Vicky has been volunteering with us for 7 years!!! She gets lots done during her weekly session the warehouse and knows her way round the stock from toilet rolls to sandwiches and everything in between. She started volunteering when her youngest started school full time as something to do. She keeps coming back because it makes her feel useful and she likes the people.

National Volunteer Week

This is Joan and Margaret, two of our OG volunteers. With us from the start 14 years ago. They answered a call in their local church and have been coming every week since.
Together they've seen so many changes from packing a handful of parcels from donated food in a front room, to what you see here, preparing 50+ emergency food parcels into crates for distribution across the whole of North Tyneside in a bespoke warehouse.

Why do they keep coming? A sense of achievement, doing something positive for the wider community and they like the people.

National Volunteers Week

This is JJ, he's been volunteering as a driver with The Bay Foodbank for about 18 months. We rely on a large and dedicated team of volunteers to do what we do, but what does he get out of it?

'Living and working in the area for over 20 years I wanted to give something back to the community. I was already aware of what the Foodbank did, but it’s met my expectations and more. The best bit about volunteering is the feeling that I’m doing something really useful for people. Being a driver I deliver parcels to clients and see the difference it makes, that’s really rewarding.'

We are so excited to announce that we will be joining Little Movers across the UK for their very first Charity Week, taking place 22nd–28th June πŸ•Ίβœ¨

This year we will be supporting The Bay Foodbank!

We’ll be taking part in a sponsored dance and working together with our families to raise awareness and funds for a brilliant local cause that means a lot to us. We can’t wait to get our Little Movers moving for a reason that really matters πŸ’•A huge thank you to all our amazing families for your support we’d love you to get involved, cheer us on, and help us make a difference in our community. We've had a great afternoon at the Warehouse with Tynemouth Scouts and some friends and family, packing, racking and sorting. They got an amazing amount done, including packing up 45 emergency food parcels that will go out to people in need on Monday. Fantastic attitude and were really brilliant to work with. I think it was the Volunteering and Community Badge that they're working towards and they've definitely earned it today.

Well done guys! Look for forward to having you back - I'll save the rice pudding pallet especially for you πŸ˜‚

πŸ› οΈ Over the past few months we’ve been working with the team at Bear & Co Consultancy to transform our building into a space fit for the future.

πŸ‘₯ The redevelopment has created much-needed room for us to expand our client-facing services and grow the support we can offer to the community.

πŸ’› We’re incredibly grateful that the funding for this building work came from a private donor, whose support has helped make this next chapter possible.

No Cook Nook

There are lots of reasons clients request No Cook or Kettle Only parcels.

Sofa surfing, out or low on gas/electricity, street homeless or in temporary accommodation.

Things like ring pull tinned meat, spreads, crackers, high energy flap jacks, nuts, porridge, rice pudding and custard and jelly fruit pots.

Shelf stable foods that don't need refrigerating and are easy to carry.

All donations are much appreciated πŸ₯°

Tinned pasta is a super quick, easy to heat and a familiar food for many kids. It's in all our family parcels. We are very low on stocks, so if you're able to pop a tin in one of our collecting bins when you do your weekly shop this weekend we'd very much appreciate it πŸ₯°.

You can find our collection tubs in Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Asda, Co-op and Spar, as well as other smaller shops and community hubs. Thanks again for all the support you give.

We asked for pasta and the good people of Benton provided!

We've had a great day at Asda Benton - thanks to Lisa for inviting us!
We brought back 35 crates of food (a lot of it pasta), 2 carrier bags of snacks,1 bag of toiletries.

We go through about 400 bags of pasta a week so these donations are really useful at keeping our shelves stocked. If you missed us today we have collection bins by the tills that we empty every week. Thank you πŸ₯°
