Jax and Reid โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

These handsome boars are currently in a foster home and hoping to find a forever home soon.

They are a bonded pair. Jax is approx 2.5 yrs old and a chunky boy. He is the more timid of the two. Although he will take treats from my hand he is not that keen on being handled. Jax is slightly longhaired and fluffy. He has a fatty lump on his underside, which causes no issues.

Reid is 2 yes old and black and white short hair. He is the dominant one. He does rumble strut and jump on Jax sometimes but they get along well. Reid is very confident he often just flumps out in the middle of the cage to snooze. He is happy to be stroked on my knee (makes cooing noises).

These boys are looking for an indoor home with a large C&C or equivalent. They will need lots of hay and fresh veggies twice daily. They will need a home where they can come out to play and would love a run to graze in on sunny days.

Short-Term Foster Home Needed for Patch & Fluffy

Patch and Fluffy recently came into rescue as an emergency after being abandoned. They are lively young boys who love to climb and explore.

Unfortunately, they don't get on well together, so they live separately.

At the moment, the rescue is very busy caring for poorly guinea pigs and others waiting to come into rescue or find homes. As these boys are adolescents, they are not ideal candidates for boar bonding right now and are a little too small for neutering.

I'm looking for a local foster home (ideally near North Shields) that could care for them for a couple of months while they continue to grow. They can then return to rescue for neutering or boar bonding in about 8 weeks time.

They would also benefit from some gentle handling, as they are quite skittish at the moment.

Ideally, I'd prefer a foster home that could take both boys while housing them separately so they still have guinea pig company nearby. A home with other guinea pigs in neighbouring enclosures would also be beneficial for them and opportunities to graze on sunny days.

If you think you could help, please send us a message or email [email protected].

Henry is doing really well. After 6 days of antibiotic eye drops, his eyes have improved significantly. They are now open, and his right eye is clear. I think he can see again now.

He has gained 120g in 6 days and now weighs 873g. He never stops eating and enjoys coming out to graze in the run. Given how well he is eating and gaining weight, it seems he was not being fed adequately before he came into rescue.

His mobility in his back end is still poor, but he gets around well enough and is keeping himself clean.

I'm not entirely sure what the long-term plan for Henry will be yet. For now, I'll continue to monitor his progress. Hopefully, I can find him a suitable companion soon.

Update on Ozzy.

Ozzy had a dental examination and treatment this week at the vets. Ozzy has had a few things going on with runny eyes and nose which he had antibiotics for. He then started to show signs of dental issues with difficulty eating. He is a sweet natured boar and it has been sad to see him struggling. He has been relying on syringe feeding. There is some improvement in his eating since his treatment so I am monitoring him now to see if it is a lasting improvement or if he starts to struggle again. Please send good wishes to Ozzy.

New arrivals Panda and China. Younger sows aged about 6 - 8 months old. They were originally from PAH. They are extremely nervous of handling so will need a confident owner. They are just settling in so more information to follow. They will need an indoor home with a large C&C or equivalent and lots of good quality hay and veggies. Henry has been enjoying some sunshine and grass. He arrived in a neglected state at the weekend. He is receiving treatment for an infection in both eyes and his eyes are already looking a bit better. He is very thin and has stiffness in his back legs. He is very thin and with little to know history I have no idea of his age and timeline of the mobility issues in his back legs. It was suggested today at the vets that given his poor state he could have been malnourished for a significant amount of time and the joint issues could indicate a lack of vitamin C and scurvy. He is eating well here and has started gaining weight so I will see how he improves over the next few weeks. Please send lots of love to Henry.

Good morning from Henry. He has settled in well so far and is eating well. I don't think he can see much at all and his eyes must be so sore. He also has an untreated leg injury. Fingers crossed he can make a good recovery with the right treatment.

He is available to sponsor to help support his care. Please get in touch for me information. [email protected] or direct message
