Over the past 12 months, 107 guinea pigs have come into North East Guinea Pig Rescue. 60 girls and 47 boys ❤️ All for different reasons and some were born here.
North East Guinea Pig Rescue has always been a small, home-run rescue. There is no large rescue centre, paid staff or a team of full-time workers. The rescue relies on my family, foster homes, adopters and supprters.
Here are the names of all the guineas who have come into rescue over the last 12 months:

Behind every name there has been vet appointments, transport, treatments, bonding, cleaning, feeding, weighing, medication, recovery, foster care, and a lot of admin with adoption and other enquiries.
Some have arrived in good health and others have arrived neglected and needing veterinary treatment. The Christmas intakes were particularly upsetting with treatment and recovery taking months.
I am delighted to see most of the guineas recover and grow in confidence here and go on to wonderful new homes. There have had a couple of sad losses with Ozzy and Sully. 💔
But every one of those 107 guinea pigs has been given a chance.
I am so grateful to every foster carer, adopter and supporter who has helped make this possible. 💚
