🚁💙 A NEW ADDITION TO OUR DRONE FLEET! 💙🚁

When our trusty DJI Avata was grounded, we approached Drone Safe Store about getting a new Avata 360, and they responded with incredible generosity.

Thanks to their support, along with a fantastic donation from Dalbeattie and Dumfries Line Dancing Club, we’ve managed to get one sorted!

Our drones are a valuable tool in searching for missing people and supporting rescue operations, so this is a welcome boost to the team’s capabilities.

A massive thank you to both Dronesafe and the Line Dancing Club for helping us get back in the air. Your support really does make a difference! 👏💙

❤️ Want to help us continue our work?

As a volunteer mountain rescue team, we rely on donations to keep our equipment up to date and our team ready to respond whenever we’re needed. Every donation, big or small, helps us continue saving lives.

If you’d like to support Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, please consider making a donation through our page. Your generosity makes a real difference!

A massive thank you and congratulations to Trevor Ford , who has officially completed his epic triple-ultramarathon challenge in aid of Galloway Mountain Rescue Team!
Trevor set out with an ambitious target to raise £1,500 by putting himself through three gruelling ultramarathons.

WitchWood Run (May)
Rat Race 100 Ultramarathon (July)
APEX Everest (September)

Not only did he endure countless miles and maximum personal discomfort for the cause, but thanks to his sheer determination and your incredible support, Trevor crossed his final finish line and officially smashed his target, raising a total of £1,502!

Every penny raised goes directly toward helping our team of volunteers stay equipped, trained, and ready to respond across Dumfries and Galloway whenever needed.

Trevor, from all of us at Galloway MRT, thank you for your incredible effort, grit, and generosity. Enjoy some well-deserved recovery time (and keep those feet up for a bit before thinking about event number four!).

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported Trevor along the way! 💪🏽🏔️

🚨 Calllout 🚨

Yesterday evening at 1928hrs, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team was tasked by Police Scotland to locate and assist two walkers who had lost their way.

Response vehicles dispatched immediately from Newton Stewart and Castle Douglas, carrying team members directly to the walkers' last known position. Thanks to swift coordination, both walkers were located safely.

A great outcome for everyone involved! 🏔️✨

Quick reminder for hillwalkers: As the days get shorter, always carry a fully charged phone, a headtorch with spare batteries, and traditional navigation tools (map and compass).

If you ever find yourself in difficulty on the hills:

1. Dial 999
2. Ask for the Police
3. Ask for Mountain Rescue
4. Stay in position: once you've called for help, stay put so rescue teams can find you using your last known coordinates

Huge thanks to our volunteers for their rapid response!
