Update: Aycliffe Alternative Magazine

I spoke to Meta support over the phone today for the first time regarding my main Meta Verified profile, which is still locked.

I've been informed that my video verification was successful and that I now need to wait until next Thursday. If I still haven't regained access by then, I've been advised to log in again and contact support for a further update.

It also turns out that the agent I was told was "Bruce" was actually AI rather than a human Meta representative, which makes a lot more sense!

It was genuinely reassuring to be able to speak to a real person today, and I'm hopeful I won't be locked out for much longer.

As I currently can't access the messages connected to that account, I'll be working on the poetry page and finishing the magazine. If I've missed any businesses or organisations from this edition because of the account issues, please send me a reminder and I'll happily make it up to you by featuring you in the next issue.

Please don't worry if you've been trying to contact me through my main Facebook account. I have now reached out to Meta regarding the issue and expect my account to be back up and running shortly.

In the meantime, Aycliffe Alternative Magazine remains active and operational.

Aycliffe Alternative Magazine

I have some last-minute articles to add, and my time has been taken up more than expected due to having to do a lot of damage control because people have been getting out of hand online.

I’m still working on the articles, and although the struggles I’ve been facing may mean this edition is a little late, I’m committed to getting it finished and uploaded as soon as possible.

Those waiting on proofs, I’ll get them to you as soon as I can. Those who already have proofs, please let me know if they’re okay or if you need any amendments.

I apologise for the delays this month. I didn’t expect to be facing so much unnecessary hate while I’m trying to support others and help our communities.

It happens, and sadly I’m used to it as a neurodivergent person, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

I can’t wait to share the amazing people and organisations featured in our June edition, and I’ll let everyone know once it’s updated on the website.

Thank you to those who haven’t joined in with abuse, harm, or sabotage, and thank you to those who’ve known me for many years and know how hard I work, even with the disabilities I have.

Let’s get this magazine finished and online.

Aycliffe Alternative Magazine has been shining a light on our local communities since it began, and that includes supporting organisations doing incredible work across Darlington and the wider area.

I'm proud to share Darlington Mind's article from a previous edition and to highlight the important support they provide within our community.

Despite the targeting, false narratives, and difficulties I'm currently facing, I'm still working hard on the June edition of the magazine because local people, groups, charities, businesses, and community projects deserve to be seen and celebrated.

It's not always easy when negativity tries to take centre stage, but I refuse to allow that to distract from the positive work happening across our communities.

The magazine has always been about giving people a platform, amplifying good causes, and helping communities connect with one another. That remains my focus.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the magazine, contribute articles, share opportunities, and champion the people making a difference every day. ❤️
