The Sofa

The Sofa will be appearing in high streets and towns throughout Teignbridge and be manned by staff from CVS, the District Council, Citizens’ Advice and more.

'The Sofa' by Teignbridge Community and Voluntary Service provides a comfortable and relaxing area where people can chat over issues such as housing, benefits and community concerns. The Sofa is an exciting new outreach project to help address residents’ concerns and questions across a range of subjects such as: benefits advice, housing, and council services. Aiming to make it easier for people t

o engage with officers and advisers in a novel and easily accessible way, we are encouraging the public to join us on the sofa to discuss the issues that matter to them.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their thoughts, and took the time to connect with us!
With the sunshine on our side, we had the chance to speak with so many local people, hearing first-hand what they love about their town and what they’d like to see improved.
These conversations are a vital part of the regeneration survey we’re carrying out on behalf of Teignbridge District Council, and the insights we gathered were invaluable.
We also chatted with residents about volunteering opportunities, and it was especially encouraging to
hear one passerby share how important they felt this kind of face-to-face engagement is.
