The Bovey Shed.

I’m on the hunt for a dis-used metal POL (petrol, oil & lubricants) cabinet. It must be serviceable, lockable and not too large! If you have got something that fits the bill and you want to move it on, please message me, maybe with a photo! 😁

We have, surplus to requirements, an IKEA footstool, a Halfords boot cold store, a toddlers bike with stabilisers, and a brown UPVC front door and frame! Coming soon will be a civil engineers 5m measure, a wallpaper pasting table and dust sheets and a pipe bender! All kindly donated to the Shed for whatever we can raise from them. First come first served. The shed is open 9-4ish, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 😁

Please be aware of flooding around the Co-op and Carpark areas either side of the river. Mill Marsh is underwater.
However the area around the Dolphin is ok but busy with the traffic backing up.
The Bovey Shed is open if you can get here. Kettle is hot! ☕️☕️🍪🍪😁

Hello again, it’s been a while since I wrote anything about the shed and I thought that I should remedy that!
It has been a quiet start to the year mainly due to the various weather conditions that we have experienced over the past three weeks! I have had to extend my absence from the shed due to an annoying bug but a few of the guys have been in and had a little play with the kitchen area. We will ’box’ it in, which will reduce the size of the area but will help keep it a bit cleaner!
Other projects will also be progressing but please accept my apologies if you turn up and find that the shed is closed. Maybe another week or so and we’ll be back to normal.
Cheers.

So, our last week of activities for 2025 is upon us! We will be open as normal on Tuesday and Friday, then on Saturday we shall have a morning of finishing off and tidying up followed by a festive drink, nibbles and chat session. It would be wonderful if I, on behalf of the Trustees and Committee, could thank you all, in person, for all of your hard work and the support you have shown throughout the year. Let’s hope that we can continue doing all of the things we have shown we can do and then expand our efforts in the future.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our members, customers and suppliers.

Cheers.

1/12/25 08:55: The top end of Newton Road, near roundabout, closed. I guess diversion is up Ashburton Road. Looks like a new electric sub-station being positioned/installed.

Edit. Seems like the weather wasn’t quite dry enough to play electric sub-stations today! All clear again.
🤷‍♂️🤣

Hello Bovey, firstly let me apologise for the ‘radio silence’ of late. We have been busy in the background trying to get the lease sorted and I have been on holiday this last week.
But now we’re back and we have a couple or three weeks to get a few more projects sorted before we have a break over the festive season. I will post the Xmas closing dates nearer the time.
Kettle is on! Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Cheers.

Time to play again! The Bovey Shed will be open again today (Friday) as normal. Be aware that the car park behind the Dolphin will be busier than usual due to the renovation work in the pub and the skips outside the workshop.
On Saturday we will try to open in the morning as usual but some of us will be at The Repair Cafe so it’s not guaranteed! We will be open for the afternoon definitely. 😁

Work starts in the Dolphin from today, we will still be open on our normal days but parking will be very limited. Please be careful as there will be builders vehicles and such in abundance! If you are able to avoid bringing your car around to the workshop we would be very grateful.
But don’t let it stop you from coming! 😁

Cheers.

Here we go again, we’re busy being busy, building busy Bee Hotels and bird boxes. We’ve got a few other projects on the go as well. We have outdoor chairs that need seats making and the table that goes with them needs a top too. We’ve even got some welding going on, properly screened of course. And we will be giving the kettle some exercise as well!
See you there!

Apologies for not being as active as usual on here, but it has been quite a busy few weeks.
We have been working hard in the shed with several projects on the go and lots more waiting to be done!
We had the AGM last week which went well with a 50% attendance of signed up members. I will get the minutes sorted and will send a brief outline of what was discussed as soon as I can.
I have also been hanging back hoping that I would get some news from the brewery about the lease, to date I have not received anything. I’m sure we will!
Anyway, thank you all for your fantastic support and hard work over the past year, I hope we can do it all again this year! (Standby for a stampede for Bee Hotels!).

Cheers

Simon.
