💜 Tomorrow we'll be announcing the winners of this year's Newport Women's Forum Bursary! 💜

We're incredibly excited to meet this year's recipients and support them as they work towards their ambitions.

One previous bursary winner was a newly qualified celebrant. With support from the Newport Women's Forum Bursary, she was able to join the Association of Independent Celebrants and purchase the equipment and resources she needed to start her own business. She described the bursary as something that "honestly changed my life."

Today, she has gone on to conduct hundreds of funerals, weddings and baby naming ceremonies, helping families mark some of life's most important moments.

Stories like this remind us why the bursary is so important. We can't wait to see what this year's winners achieve and to play a small part in helping them turn their aspirations into reality.

The amazing Herstorytheatrecompany is taking 'Betsi' to The Edinburgh Fringe in August. The costs involved for this small part-time theatre company are daunting. Are you able to help them take the story of this amazing Welsh Nurse to a wider audience? Let's help give our Welsh Forence Nightingale the exposure she deserves.
(Although Betsi would hate that comparison. She had very strong views on Florence, having worked with her in the Crimean War.)

🌸 Celebrating 30 Years of the Newport Women’s Forum! 🌸

This year marks a very special milestone as we celebrate 30 years of championing and supporting women across Newport 💜
Our afternoon tea this Saturday at the Holiday Inn is more than a chance to enjoy yummy treats, it's a fantastic opportunity to network, connect and celebrate the incredible women in our community.

✨ It’s also our main fundraiser for the Newport Women’s Forum Bursary, helping women develop skills, grow businesses and follow their ambitions.
We’re proud to have supported inspiring women like printmaker Francesca Williams, who used her bursary to invest in supplies and grow her business FWillustration. Seven years on, Francesca is creating murals around the world, taking on commissions, and selling her beautiful lino prints 🎨

Here’s what one of our past bursary winners had to say about how the funding transformed her journey:

"My funding paid for me to undertake a year's course of study online with Hastings (now Nimble) Art School. I had been tentatively nurturing an art practice (photography & collage) since the pandemic, and the course not only helped me develop my artistic sense & abilities, it also helped me stay personally on track throughout an extremely challenging period of my life. Since completing the course, I have had work displayed (and sold) in several exhibitions locally, and am now preparing for a show in Hastings in the autumn. It has honestly been a life-changing experience, and I have Newport Women's Forum to thank for the funding that enabled me to do this.”
