😀Good news story😀

In May of this year, we were delighted to present a cheque for £500 to Music for Memories who create individual music units with personalised playlists for people suffering with memory loss.

Each playlist has been chosen by loved ones in order to help trigger memories and special moments.

We have all experienced those times when a song gets played somewhere and we are transported back to a moment in our lives.

Imagine how a whole playlist of memories can bring such joy.

Since we made our donation, Music for Memories have been able to deliver 34 personalised units across Gloucestershire and 98 to the wider service area, bringing comfort, connection and precious memories to people with dementia.

To find out more about how these units help, check out their website.

♥️Good news story♥️

A few months ago, we presented a cheque of £500 to Music for Memories who provide personalised music units to those with memory loss.

Dementia is something that will touch all of us at some point in our lives and memory loss is one of the heartbreaking symptoms.

The music units are created with the help of loved ones, a playlist of songs that trigger memories for the sufferer.

We all get those moments when we hear a song and it transports us back to a moment in time. 😀

These units have been bringing joy to so many.
To the individual who has lost their memory, the songs bring smiles, tears of joy and even prompt them to burst into song.
For the loved ones, to see their special person become themselves again.

Since our donation, the charity has been able to deliver 34 units across Gloucestershire and 98 to the wider area. 🤩🤩🤩

How wonderful is that 🥳

A big thank you to Pennie and the team at The Old Shambles Charity Shop - Sheppard House Charity for supporting Newent & District Rotary Breakfast Club’s annual BBC Children in Need appeal.

With Children in Need just around the corner, the shop has put together a fantastic Pudsey display, and it looks wonderful!

If you’re out and about in Newent Visit Newent, please pop in and take a look.

All Pudsey merchandise is half the price of the supermarkets, with 100% of the takings going to Children in Need.

Our sincere thanks to Penny and the team for their support and for helping us raise money for such a worthwhile cause. 💛

Well I never knew that!!

Last week at our Breakfast Club meeting one of our long standing members Brian Robbins told us ‘His Story’

From drain covers to rugby. From teaching children from the Windrush generation which led to winning the trophy at Edgbaston.

Purchasing a Gloucester Old Spot pig and producing 2000 sausages.

In India, being involved in obtaining a Rotary Global grant to renovate a Primary Healthcare Centre and supporting a dairy run by women to provide them with an income of their own.

Lastly Brian talked about renovating a very old c***r mill at Woodredding C***r.
This has led to his involvement with The Big Apple and writing a book of short stories!

What a lot Brian has accomplished and this was only scratching the surface.

Thank you Brian for this insight into your interesting life.

Who will we hear from next??
