The Bank of England has held onto Venezuela gold reserves since 2019. Even during Covid through the government it denied the release of monies to help the Venezuelan people buy medicines and food. Britain is complicit with the actions of the USA .

When international law is ignored it leads to the breakdown of world order. It sets a dangerous precedent and means that powerful nations can just go in and take over smaller countries. Ultimately how can we argue against smaller nations building nuclear weapons when they are threatened if they dont have them .

Great iniative but it shouldn't be classed as ending child poverty. Finland have been doing this since 1938 and Scotland have adopted the program across the country. It should be universal and not just given out at the bequest of Mayor's.

Truly ending child poverty involves ending the 2 child benefit cap which ends in April this year and is welcomed. Building council houses and stopping council house sales. Funding local authorities properly so vital services can be retained. Ending the private monopoly on utilities. Funding schools properly d increasing tax thresholds and minimum wage at £15.

To pay for it tax wealth These measures would go some way to ending child poverty.

The first recorded ferry service from North to South shields was in 1377. This makes it one of the longest running ferry routes.A regular charter for the ferry was established in 1832. Nexus took over the running of the Ferry in the 1970s . Therefore it was vitality important that we keep the ferry running. It is part of the history of the Tyne

After a few years when the future of the Shields Ferry looked as though it might be in jeopardy because of the deteriorating condition of the North Shields ferry landing, work is finally starting to fix the problem.

Belfast-based civil engineering firm, McLaughlin & Harvey, has been awarded a £24 million contract to build a new ferry landing next to the Fish Quay. Preparatory work is now starting on the riverside and the new landing is expected to open in 2027, with the project being paid for by Nexus and North East Combined Authority funding.
