Newcastle has a very high incidence of children and babies attending the Emergency department due to accidental ingestion (swallowing medicines, cleaning products, button batteries etc that are not meant to be put in the mouth). This is very serious and can have life threatening or life changing consequences for the child.

The health visiting and School health service speak with parents and carers about safety and keeping poisonous items away from babies and children but we know you all live busy lives and sometimes these safety messages get forgotten or you are busy with other tasks.

We currently receive free magnetic white boards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) which we share with families. The campaign is called Take Action Today (TAT). The Society need to see that these are supporting families to remember the advice and keep it in their mind. We would be very grateful if you would spend a few minutes to follow the link below and complete the short survey.
