Last year, when Luan (pictured on the left) was researching different universities to go to, he messaged us asking “What is life like for q***r people in Newcastle?” — and you can only imagine our response... 🧡

As we often do, we shouted about all of the amazing things happening across the city for LGBTQIA+ people. From art clubs to book clubs, and of course our very own Q***r Coffee Club, we wanted Luan to know that there was a lot to get involved in. 🎨🎭

Q***r-friendly healthcare was also a question Luan had, and we asked our wider community for recommendations (a massive thank you to those who took the time to share their experiences). 📣

Maybe we all played a part in Luan settling on Newcastle for university together? That’s the power of community right there!

Ever since that first message, Luan has been such a valued member of our Qu**rs of the North community. From attending many of our own events and socials, to recently featuring us in his patch in the Trans Unity Quilt (Patch 277) which debuted at London Trans Pride. 🏳️‍⚧️

We are forever grateful to have Luan in our lives, and for always being one of our biggest champions. 👏

We’re bringing our wonderful community together for a wholesome night full of connection festive celebrations. 🧡

THE HADRIAN CUP IS BACK! 🏉

Our very own Newcastle Ravens (Newcastle Ravens RFC) are proudly hosting the return of the annual inclusive rugby weekend on 6th March 2027!

If you’ve been joining us at our monthly Q***r Coffee Club, you might already recognise the wonderful Caroline! 🧡

Pictured here as their drag persona Dixie, Caroline joined us the Newcastle Pride 2026 march with their four-legged friend Bertie. This was Bertie’s first ever Pride, and it was definitely one to remember… 🐶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Caroline shared: “It was incredible to be able to properly bring my drag to my hometown for the first time!

Being unapologetically visible through colour, joy, and togetherness is an act of resistance that cannot be understated in a society which yearns to kill empathy, community and individuality. Forever full of love for my city and for q***r joy.”
