WE'RE BACK and better than ever with BIG GAY OUR PRIDE CABARET with Rhian Jade and an all-LGBTQIA+ Northern cast of performers, theatre-makers, and comedians to celebrate Our Pride.

Our Pride's Big Gay Cabaret offers a platform for theatre lovers and makers to come together and celebrate local performance art, full of big, q***r, lovely craic, in a space for expression, cultural inclusion, and affirmation!

Returning in July 2026 after sell-out shows in 2024, 2025, and a Winter Seasonal Special in January 2026 with belly laughs and boisterous energy. Geet Northern x Sister Shack are honoured to bring a show all about intersectionality and equity for a safe community space to really enjoy YOUR pride at OUR PRIDE, at a time when we need it most!

Expect burlesque, comedy sketches, stand-up, and so much more to make you woop, cheer, and chuckle the night away.

As always, it's full of heart, joy, resilience, and resistance, and we are so proud to bring the craic!

Our Pride programme is here!

Full details and booking via our-pride.com and sister-shack.com.

Our Pride is a safer space for people who do not feel represented in the city's LGBTQIA+ cultural activities, and for those who are represented only in certain activities, but everyone is welcome. This year, our theme is Joy, Resistance & Solidarity. Amid ever-increasing hostility and uncertainty, we want to offer some pockets of community joy.
In 2023, we (Sister Shack CIC) organised the first 'Our Pride Festival,' a five-day LGBTQIA+ events programme. In 2019, we saw a need for an alternative Pride offering and hosted our first all-day Pride event at a venue in Newcastle upon Tyne. Due to the global pandemic, we took our programming online. In 2022, we hosted our second physical event at The Old Coal Yard. From the positive feedback we received, we realised that these calmer, safer spaces are needed more than ever.

Every year, we continue to bring a pride programme, and 2026 is no different.
This year, we have involved over 25 local performers, makers, workshop facilitators, and freelancers, who will be paid for their time (as always).

We have a jam-packed month of programming, which you can see our websites. We hope to see you in July, 2026 and beyond!

"Decolonising Imagination: Reclaiming Knowledge, Identity & Creative Futures” is an online talk exploring how colonial systems continue to shape the ways we learn, create, and understand knowledge. Drawing from my work through The A.K.A.N.I Toolkit, the session will discuss decolonial approaches to design, collective imagination, Afrikan and Indigenous knowledge systems, and alternative ways of thinking about creativity, identity, community, and the future.

Blending personal reflection, research, visual process work, and audience discussion, the talk invites participants to critically rethink dominant frameworks within education and creative practice while collectively imagining more just, connected, and culturally grounded futures.

The talk will be around 1 hour followed by 30 minutes of questions and discussion.

After a very informative and fun walk at Gosforth Nature Reserve, Nadia will join us for an online session.

This online session is a quick journey through the history of land in this country so we can better understand injustice, disconnection, and how to reclaim our rights.

The talk will be around 45 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of questions and discussion.
