Dear all,

The time has come to share some fantastic news with all of our community.

As of April 20th, 2026, Newcastle Veterans Hub has officially become a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)

Registered Charity Number: 1217690

This is a huge milestone for us which further recognises are continued dedication and unwavering comittment to all who served.

Transitioning to a CIO means we have a more robust foundation in place to support our veterans with more opportunities for funding, and greater capacity to grow the vital support we provide to those who once served.

What this means for our members:

Greater Stability: Ensures the Hub is here for the long term.

New Opportunities: Access to grants and resources previously out of reach and we know the purse strings are becoming tighter across the board for most if not all charities, but we will continue to try.

Professional Growth: An official seal of approval on the hard work our "volunteers" and members do every single day.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us on this journey, from our dedicated volunteers to our local community partners. We couldn't have reached this point without your unwavering belief in our mission we appreciate you.

Special Thanks:

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to The Freemasons Northumberland Charity.

Charity Number 233633

Their steadfast support and commitment to our cause has been instrumental in reaching this huge milestone. The mutual respect and genuine friendship they have extended toward Newcastle Veterans Hub has been nothing short of inspiring.

- Thank you to each and all -

A further special thanks go to Connected Voice who in all honesty were extremely patient with us, as this has taken some time, and we did not achieve this milestone at first attempt which firther highlights are hardwork and dedication yet alone the integrity of the charity commission (CC)

Charity Number: 1125877

- Thank you -

The hard work doesn't stop here, but today, we celebrate! 🥂

HADRIAN’S WALL WALK – SUGGESTED ITINERARY

David Heaveside tagged in this post founder of Veterans Activities for Mental Health - is point of contact if we have any veterans who wish to get involved and get amongst it.

Total Distance: ~94 miles / 151 km
Duration: 6 days
Average: 24–28 km per day

Day 1
Bowness-on-Solway → Carlisle
Distance: ~24 km
Flat farmland and coastal walking to start the journey. A good warm-up day before the tougher central section.

Day 2
Carlisle → Walton / Lanercost area
Distance: ~24 km
Gradually moving into more rural terrain. Passing forts and Roman milecastles.

Day 3
Walton → Steel Rigg / Once Brewed
Distance: ~26 km
This is where the wall becomes dramatic. Crags, ridges and the iconic central section begin.

Day 4
Steel Rigg → Chollerford
Distance: ~24 km
One of the most spectacular sections.
Passing:
Housesteads Roman Fort
Highshield Crags
Brocolitia Fort
Expect climbs and incredible views.

Day 5
Chollerford → Heddon-on-the-Wall
Distance: ~26 km
The terrain becomes gentler as you approach the eastern side.

Day 6
Heddon-on-the-Wall → Wallsend
Distance: ~15 km

Final push to the finish line at:
📍 Segedunum Roman Fort
The official eastern end of the wall.
A perfect place for group photos and a victory pint.
