💛 Mental Health Awareness Week 💛

Today’s “happy fact” in our house came from a favourite ite book by the fab

“Fresh air is scientifically proven to give you more energy.”

Simple… but true.

At Family Mental Fitness North East CIC, we believe mental health is not only about supporting people when things go wrong.

It’s also about helping children, young people and families build positive mental health before they reach crisis point.

That can look like:
🌿 fresh air
💤 healthy sleep routines
🎨 creativity and play
🚶 movement and regulation
🫶 trusted relationships
☀️ feeling safe, calm and connected

Sometimes the smallest daily habits are the things that protect our wellbeing the most.

So today’s reminder is gentle:
Open the window.
Step outside.
Breathe deeply.
Take the walk.
Sit in the sunshine if you can.

Tiny things still count.

What’s your happy fact today? 💭

Absolutely love this from the Wey Aye LEGO Man exhibition launch last night 💛

Although I wasn’t able to attend in person due to a health issue, I’m incredibly proud to have helped facilitate this opportunity for the young people involved.

Seeing children and young people from our local community represented as part of a national creative exhibition is something really special.

A huge thank you to The Lighthouse Project for supporting the visit and making sure the young people could be part of the evening.

Opportunities like this matter, not just because of the artwork itself, but because young people deserve to see that their creativity, identity and ideas have value beyond their immediate environment. 💛

COMING SOON…

Something special is being created in the heart of Byker.

A quiet, calm space designed for:
• regulation
• emotional wellbeing
• connection
• real support for children, teens and families

This isn’t a classroom.
It isn’t a clinic.
And it’s not just “activities”.

It’s a space where people can slow down, feel safe, and start to reset.

Over the coming weeks, this empty yurt will become a fully equipped therapeutic space, home to:
• 1:1 support
• small group sessions
• sensory and regulation work
• guided relaxation

I’ll be opening up a limited number of early sessions before the official launch.

If you’re a parent, school, AP, parent or organisation who might benefit from this space
message me now to register interest.

We’re building something really special in Byker.

At The Lighthouse Project, we’ve got a dedicated outdoor therapeutic space, a 5m yurt designed to support children, young people and families with emotional wellbeing, regulation and connection.

It will be used for 1:1 and family work with those who often struggle to access or engage in more traditional environments.

To make the space safe and fully accessible, we now need to install wide, shallow access steps and a simple boundary fence.

We are looking for:
• Railway sleepers or suitable timber
• Support with installation

If you can help, or connect us with someone who can, we’d really appreciate it. We have access to the timber needed for the fencing.

We’re proud to be building something that will make a genuine difference locally, and we will acknowledge and share support from local businesses and individuals who get involved.

Thank you for being part of something positive for our community 💛
DM if you think you can help us.
