👋 Meet Christine Thornley, Chair of RIBA Teesside.

✨Yesterday, at our Volunteer Forum, we came together to celebrate the incredible contribution of RIBA volunteers, sharing experiences, ideas, and the impact our volunteers make across the region.

For Christine, volunteering is all about community and connection. It’s an opportunity to bring people together, support fellow professionals, and help shape a thriving local network.

We’re always looking for new volunteers to get involved with RIBA Teesside, whether that’s joining the committee, supporting activities, or simply coming along to our events and meeting like-minded professionals.

Small Practice Co-Working Day – Teesside

Following the success of our co-working days in Newcastle, we’re heading to Teesside!

Join us on Wednesday 30th September, 10am–4pm for a relaxed and informal co-working day designed for small and sole practitioners.

It’s a great opportunity to network with fellow small practitioners, share ideas and break up the isolation that can sometimes come with working on your own. We’ll also provide a free lunch, so please let us know about any dietary requirements when you sign up. CPD details to follow.

Meet Alanis, Chair of the Young Architects Practitioners Forum (YAPF)! 👋
🌟Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more of Alanis’ journey, including what inspired her to join the YAPF and why she continues to volunteer. But first, we wanted to introduce both Alanis and the forum she helps lead.
The future of architecture depends on supporting the next generation of professionals. The YAPF plays a vital role in creating connections between education and practice, helping emerging architects build their networks and confidence.
As we move through the summer, why not take a moment to consider: could volunteering with the YAPF be the right fit for you?
The forum is always looking for passionate volunteers to support existing initiatives and help shape new events and opportunities for the future.

Last weekend we visited Kirkleatham with RIBA Tees for the annual Festival of Thrift, a brilliant celebration of sustainability, creativity and the local community.
The weekend welcomed an estimated 35,000 visitors, who got involved in workshops,creative activities, live music and sampled some delicious food.

At the RIBA tent, we spent the weekend promoting architecture across the region through LEGO building, mapping workshops and plenty of conversations about the world of architecture. It was great to meet so many people, connecting with the community to share the passion and creativity that exists across the region. We look forward to joining again next year 🏡🍃☀️
