Sorry we have been a little quiet lately. Rest assured, we have had a very busy few weeks supporting the local community.

We have spent 5 days spent poppy collecting for the Royal British Legion whilst managing to squeeze in some Parade preparations for the Remembrance period.

Continuing our fantastic relationship with the Salvation Army, we attended the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday evening and enjoyed a fantastic performance by their musicians.

Finally, we came together with members of the RBL, RAFA, Salvation Army and Northumbria Police to resurrect the West Road Remeberance Parade at the Commonwealth War Graves.

Onbagalf of everyone at 2510 Sqn, thank you for all the support!

⭐️GOLD CYBER COURSE⭐️

FS Jess O'Mahoney recently completed the Gold Cyber Course at RAF Cosford.

Here she gained valuable hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity. As part of the course, she learned practical skills such as how to correctly recall and wire an Ethernet cable, as well as understanding the different types of cyber attacks like phishing, DDoS, and malware.

The course also explored various defence strategies, including firewalls, encryption, and secure password practices. To wrap up our learning, they created and delivered presentations covering everything she had studied, which helped reinforce their understanding and improve our confidence in cyber awareness.

Huge congratulations to FS O'Mahoney!!

Well done!

🚑NEAS Visit 🚑

Last week, 2510 were lucky enough to have a visit from the North East Ambulance Service.

The team showed the cadets around the ambulance, explaining what different equipment is used for. They then showed the cadets the stretchers and some even got a go in it.

But dont worry! No cadets were harmed in the making of these images.

A huge thank you to the NEAS team who came along. The cadets loved it!

We also have our very own Sgt Rogers at RIAT as a Flight Commander.

Royal International Air Tattoo - RAF Fairford 2025

Our final spotlight from today is on the staff who attend to act as Flight Commanders for some of the nearly 70 flights of cadets we have on the camp.

This year, APO Ben Stobbs from 2522 Bedlington Squadron - Air Cadets and Sgt Joe Rogers from 2510 West Denton Squadron RAFAC are attending as Flight Commanders. During the week, the responsibilities of the Flight Commander and to ensure the Safety & Wellbeing of the other staff and cadets in their flight, ensuring they get to their allocated taskings on time, in the correct uniform and with any additional equipment they need such as waterproofs, suncream, water/hydration, and that they attend for their designated mealtimes.

Without the support and attendance of staff such as APO Stobbs and Sgt Rogers, the RAFAC would be unable to support the RAFCTE with the running of the event.

Royal International Air Tattoo - RAF Fairford 2025

Our third spotlight on specialist teams at RIAT 2025 is the Communications Team. The Communications Team is the beating heart of the entire operation, passing messages and relaying information to every flight on taskings, off duty or on standby.

In addition, they manage the communications between the various Support Pillar Teams, operating across 9 Direct channels. This critical function allows the fast processing on information to all parts of the operation including Tasking, Discip, Campsite, Logistics, MT Transport, First Aid and Wellbeing Teams.

FS Jessica O’Mahoney from 2510 West Denton Squadron RAFAC is part of the RIAT RAFAC Communications team this year.

As part of the communications team, cadets are tasked with helping create and maintain a secure network for the air cadets as they go about their duties on both the showground and campground. This includes the set up of all radio equipment, IT equipment, as well as the erecting of 3 Radio masts and managing the issuing of radio equipment and overnight charging.

Based on the cadet campsite, there is a constant flow of messages that need to be monitored, logged and transmitted onwards. Even though there is a busy schedule you do get breaks and time off so you can look around the show ground, see the aircraft and meet the aircrew from various countries.

This team requires a lot of organisational skills so if you have them and enjoy a challenge, and want to be part of one of the coolest teams on the camp, then apply for this team next year.
