We've got a fantastic collection of pumpkins, lovingly prepared at our allotment social this week, just waiting to be transformed into spooky, silly or spectacular Halloween creations! 👻🎨

Whether you're a crafting superstar or just fancy a bit of fun, come along and get stuck in! No experience needed – just bring yourself and your imagination! 🧡

🎃🍅 PUMPKINS, TOMATOES & RUNNER BEANS GALORE! 🎃🌱🫘 What a lovely afternoon we've had at our Allotment Social today! 💚☀️ It was PUMPKIN PARTY TIME! 🎃🎉 We rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into preparing our pumpkins, ready to give them some spooky makeovers at our Friday Social! 👻🖌️

🎨 Fancy decorating your own pumpkin? Come along to our Friday Social at Tesco Kingston Park, 11am–12 noon, and join in the Halloween fun! 🎃

And despite autumn being well and truly upon us, our allotment is STILL producing some wonderful goodies! 🍅🌿 We harvested loads of lovely tomatoes and big, juicy runner beans. The growing season clearly isn't ready to call it a day just yet! 😂

👏 A HUGE thank you to Julianne, who came down from head office to lend a hand with all those pumpkins! We really appreciated the extra pair of hands! 💚

Another fantastic afternoon of fresh air, friendship, laughter and a little bit of pumpkin chaos! 🎃😂

🎃🍂 PUMPKIN PARTY AT THE ALLOTMENT! 🍂🎃 It's time to get our pumpkins ready for Halloween! 🎃👻 Join us THIS WEDNESDAY from 12 noon for a spooktacular afternoon at our community allotment! 🌻🍁

We'll be busy preparing our pumpkins ready for Friday's Social, where we'll be getting creative and decorating them for Halloween! 🎨🎃

☕ Plenty of hot chocolate, tea and coffee to keep everyone warm!

🥪 Bring a packed lunch, lend a hand with the pumpkins or simply sit back, relax and enjoy a bit of nature! 🌿

🧣 Wrap up warm, bring your Halloween spirit and come along for some autumnal fun!

🎃🍰 DAY TWO OF THE GREAT PUMPKIN BAKE-OFF! 🐶👨‍🍳 The adventures of Mark, Nelly and the world's wartiest pumpkin continue! 😂🎃

Yesterday it was pumpkin pie, and today we've transformed a bit more of our monstrous garden pumpkin into a deliciously moist pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting! 🍰🧡

Naturally, Nelly was back on sous-chef duties, supervising every spoonful and making sure absolutely nothing went to waste! 🐾🤣

👨‍🍳 FANCY MAKING YOUR OWN? HERE'S THE RECIPE!

🎃 For the cake:

250g cooked pumpkin purée

200g self-raising flour

175g light brown sugar

2 large eggs

120ml vegetable oil

1½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp ground ginger

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

Pinch of salt

🧁 For the frosting:

150g cream cheese

75g softened butter

125g icing sugar

½ tsp vanilla extract

🥣 METHOD:

1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 160°C fan and line a 20cm square cake tin.

2️⃣ Whisk together the eggs, sugar, oil, vanilla and pumpkin purée.

3️⃣ Fold in the flour, spices, bicarbonate of soda and salt.

4️⃣ Pour into the tin and bake for 35–45 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.

5️⃣ Leave to cool completely.

6️⃣ Beat the butter and icing sugar until fluffy, then briefly mix in the cream cheese and vanilla. Spread over the cake and finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon! 😋

🎃 One pumpkin, two days, two delicious desserts… and one very enthusiastic four-legged kitchen assistant! 🐶❤️

At this rate, we'll still be eating pumpkin at Christmas! 😂🎄

🎃🥧 FROM WARTY PUMPKIN TO PUMPKIN PIE! 🐶🍂
Nelly and Mark picked the biggest, wartiest-looking pumpkin from the garden today and decided to turn the ugly beast into something delicious! 😂🎃

With Nelly supervising (and hoping for leftovers), they managed to create a homemade pumpkin pie! 🥧🧡

👨‍🍳 Fancy making one? Here's the recipe!

🎃 Ingredients:

425g cooked pumpkin purée

150g light brown sugar

2 eggs

200ml double cream

1½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp ginger

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

1 pack ready-rolled shortcrust pastry

🥧 Method:

1️⃣ Roast the pumpkin until soft, scoop out the flesh and blend until smooth. Drain off excess water.

2️⃣ Line a 23cm pie dish with pastry and blind bake at 180°C fan for 15 minutes, then another 5 minutes without the baking beans.

3️⃣ Whisk all the filling ingredients together and pour into the pastry case.

4️⃣ Bake at 160°C fan for 40–50 minutes until just set with a slight wobble in the middle.

5️⃣ Leave to cool, slice and enjoy! 😋

Not bad for a pumpkin that looked like it had escaped from a Halloween horror film! 👻🤣

🐸🪲 FROGS, BEETLES & A FEW UNEXPECTED VISITORS! 🎨👽🐢 Well, that escalated quickly! 😂Today's Pebble Painting Workshop started with a simple plan… paint some cute green frogs and beetles! 🐸🪲

But our wonderfully creative bunch had other ideas! Before we knew it, we had aliens, monsters, flies and even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! 👽👹🪰🐢

Who knew a few green pebbles and a splash of paint could unleash so much imagination?! 💚

🎃 And another HUGE thank you to Newcastle Tesco Extra in the Community and Lesley Dunbar for kindly donating the pumpkins for next week's Pumpkin Party! We can't wait to get creative with those too! 🎃✨

🎨🧱 CALLING ALL ARTISTS! WE NEED YOU! 🧱🎨 Wey Aye LEGO Man is BACK for 2027, and we're celebrating our FIFTH exhibition in style! 🎉

We're looking for creative minds to transform our blank LEGO Man statues into weird, wonderful and colourful works of art! 🌈

🎨 Paint it! Decorate it! Make it totally bonkers!

No artistic experience needed – just a bit of imagination and a willingness to have fun!

🐸🪲 HOP TO IT! TOMORROW’S FRIDAY SOCIAL IS GOING GREEN! 🎨💚

Join us tomorrow for our Pebble Frogs & Beetles Painting Workshop! 🐸

We'll be transforming ordinary pebbles into fabulous froggy friends and brilliant beetles! 🖌️🪲

🌱🍅 BEANS, BREWS & A BEAUTIFUL MURAL! ☕🎨🌞 What a lovely afternoon at our Wednesday Allotment Social! 💚 We had a special visit from Joe at Head Office, who very kindly rolled up his sleeves and helped sort out our guttering! 🔧👏 Our gorgeous new mural is now on full display, without any pesky pipes getting in the way! 🎨😍 A huge thank you, Joe!

Meanwhile, our green fingers were busy harvesting some lovely runner beans and beautifully ripe, juicy tomatoes! 🫘🍅🌿

And Rachel and Mark were getting stuck into the really glamorous jobs… shovelling LOTS of manure onto our raised beds! 💩😂 It might not be the sweetest-smelling job in the world, but it'll help us grow lots of lovely fruit and veg next year! 🌱🥕🍅

And, of course, no allotment social would be complete without a good cuppa! ☕ We enjoyed delicious hot chocolate, plenty of tea and coffee, and some lovely chats in the fresh air. 🥰

A bit of DIY, a brilliant harvest, a mountain of manure and a whole lot of community spirit. What more could you ask for? 💚
