After sleeping most of Sunday, as I don’t remember being so tired since I ran the inaugural Hunts Marathon in about 1980 😊, I’d like to give a big thank you to all members of the county executive, my brilliant outdoor and indoor clubmates, and wider circle of friends through bowls, for your wonderful support throughout the week at the National Finals at Skegvegas. Special mention to my amazing Vice President Alan Blackley whose organisation skills and support made my job so much easier and Junior Deputy President Geoff Willis for his support and for covering the initial presence when we had two or more same time starts all over the complex while I got there as soon as I could! A further special mention for Immediate Past President and club mate Kevin Bowers for encouraging, keeping an eye, prompting and checking I had all bases covered and my good friend and Assistant County Secretary Dave Richardson for his support and encouragement throughout. Congratulations to our superb U25 National Champions and their Manager Kane Phillips. I was fortunate to watch every minute of their journey to, and appearance in, the final and enjoyed every second. They are the future and it is in good hands. Congratulations to my club mate Emma Musgrove on her brilliant singles victory. Now do you believe us, Ems? 😊Congratulations to Alex and Lily in their excellent U25 open pairs victory, they were awesome. And finally, congratulations to Dave Richardson, in his Secretary Singles, who played better all week and more consistently than I’ve ever seen him, only to fall cruelly one wood short of victory, 20-21 against an opponent who had to pull out some amazing shots to win by that ONE shot. Next year, Dave!



This is an amazing County and I was proud to represent Huntingdonshire at these National Finals. Thank you all for your kindness and support.
