Happy New Year 2026 to all our Members on here! We hope you had a wonderful time over Christmas and wish you a healthy and happy year ahead.
It is with great sadness and regret that we have to announce the closure of Broxbourne Dog Club.
The club, championed by Graham and Margaret Kersey, has supported the training of dogs and their owners for over 50 years. It survived—and even flourished—during Covid with the use of an outdoor training arena at Argosons Stud. However, since returning to St Giles Hall, membership numbers have declined while costs have more than doubled.
An EGM was held by the Committee on 29th December to discuss the future of the club and whether it could be taken forward. Unfortunately, with two trainers retiring, committee members stepping back, and insufficient volunteers coming forward, the difficult decision was made to close the club.
It was also agreed that the funds held should be donated in recognition of the many years of support from our members.
These funds, accumulated over the past 50+ years through class fees, memberships, donations, and sales of training aids, will be allocated to a selection of very deserving Charities identified by the committee, which are much in need of funds and support.
We will announce these shortly.
Our apologies to those who had recently shown an interest in joining the club. In the meantime, for our own regular, newer and potential members, please take a look at the following reputable alternative dog training clubs, which our committee would personally like to recommend:
Nosey Barker (Harlow) www.noseybarker.co.uk
Homeward Hounds (Theydon Bois) www.homewardhounds.co.uk
Muddy Mutleys (Enfield) www.muddymutleys.com
We will still be supporting the Dog Show at the Hunsdon Village Festival this year, which will hopefully go ahead.....maybe see you there!!
We would like to thank our regular and committed Members of the club sincerely for their friendship, commitment, support, and the many laughs—some truly side-splitting. All of it will be remembered with great fondness.
With warmest thanks and very much gratitide,
The Broxbourne Dog Training Club Committee
