Half of the refugee homes have doors and windows now thanks to our marvellous carpenter who is making them by hand. He is now working on the finla woodwork for the first 10 houses then we can get them ready for occupancy. Thanks for all you do to help us with our projects.

A sign board for our Sudan refugee project is almost completed ready to be errected on site because soon - all being well, the houses should be completed. However deliveries, supplies and fuel are always uncertain in a war torn country so the builders Amo-Alo have done well to tackle every challenge so far. Khalsa Aid are supplying the funding for the project, Pastor Benjamin from the Sudan Pentecostal Church is the project manager on the ground in Sudan cordinating with Ros our chairman who is leading the project.

An exibitor from Brixworth was the lucky winner at our charity raffle on Saturday 11th July at the Open Day at the Buddhist Centre in Thornby. Cornelia Wontner generously donated three wonderful wildlife panels as a prize and also donated the sale of her pictures. We raised £150 with Gift Aid. In the photo is Ros our chairman and on the right you can see part of the exqusite work on one of the winners panels. Thank you all for your support. The money will go towards supplying fruit trees, seeds and solar safety lights at out project to rehome up to 600 South Sudanese Refugees. For more information go to www.compassiondirectuk.org

Simple ways to spread hope

Swap a packet of seeds or a book you have finished with a neighbour or share a recipe.

Tell someone how much they matter, thank or compliment someone, acknowledge a quiet helper.

Ring someone you know is going through a hard time or visit with a hopeful message and a flower.

Plant a sunflower, a pot of herbs or a wildflower patch

On a walk pick up a piece of litter, smile at a stranger, check on a neighbour, remark on something beautiful.

Share a photo of something uplifting, a sunrise, a flower a lamb skipping in a field, catkins.

Pass on a good turn and hold open a door for someone, let someone out who is waiting at a junction while driving. Teach someone some gardening skills or how to knit.
