OUR MISSION STATEMENT........

To use the skills we possess to fund-raise through various exciting Social Events in addition to sales through our Charity Shop at Calle Doctor Fleming 3 in Aguilas, These funds are used to ultimately improve the life of people and animals alike. Helping Hands are acutely aware of the current financial climate and therefore, uppermost in our minds, is the need to provide our supporters with events that are exceptional value for money. We endeavour always to keep costs to minimum and with the exception of unwanted items donated to our shop, we never ask for anything. We assist those in need in various ways by responding to requests whenever we can. These requests come in many different forms, For Example:

In times of crisis, ie the horrific Lorca Earthquake in 2011 and the very recent devastating flooding of the region in 2012. Helping Hands were able to launch an appeal and give hands-on assistance and supplies to those in need, many of whom lost not only their possessions but also their entire homes and terrifyingly, some even lost their lives. We regularly fund the transportation of food parcels from Murcia for 80 Families. BENEFICIARIES OF HELPING HANDS TO DATE

🔥 Meet Dona the Maligator: Built for the Job 🔥

Dona, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, isn’t “too much.” She’s exactly what she was bred to be: a razor-sharp working dog. Her so-called “negative traits” aren’t problems—they’re features.

⚡ Intensity
When she’s given a task, Dona doesn’t half-do it—she goes all in. Intensity is what makes a Malinois excel in search and rescue, detection, or protection work. She won’t miss a scent, a sound, or a step until the job is finished. That drive and commitment is priceless in the working world.

👀 Hyper-alertness
She’s on duty 24/7. In a working role, this translates to an incredible awareness of her environment. Whether it’s picking up the faintest trace of explosives, spotting movement in the distance, or responding to subtle handler cues, her “over-alert” state is exactly what makes her effective in high-pressure, high-stakes situations.

🚀 High energy
Yes, she’s a rocket—but that stamina is what makes Malinois so valuable in roles where endurance is non-negotiable. While other dogs tire, Dona is still running, searching, guarding, or training at full throttle. Energy is her fuel for excellence.

🐊 Snapping ‘Maligator’ jaws
Her nickname isn’t just for fun. Those lightning-fast jaws are part of what makes her a natural at bite work and protection. It’s not aggression—it’s controlled power. In the right training programme, those jaws become precision tools for apprehension, defence, or high-level sport. They’re a sign of strength, courage, and responsiveness, not a flaw.

🧠 Reactivity
Dona doesn’t “overreact”—she responds instantly. In a working context, quick reactions can be the difference between success and failure. It means she won’t hesitate when asked to act, and she’ll stay sharp when it matters most.

💡 The Truth
Dona is not a dog looking to be “saved”. She doesn’t need fixing, softening, or calming down. She needs someone who values every one of her traits—her drive, her sharpness, her intensity—and wants her precisely because of them. She won’t bend herself to fit into your lifestyle; you’ll need to adapt to hers.

🏚️ Right now, Dona is struggling in the shelter. She only gets four short, 15-minute on-lead walks a week—nowhere near enough for a dog of her intelligence, drive, and stamina. This environment is highly inadequate for her needs. She isn’t just waiting for a home—she’s waiting for a purpose, for someone who understands that she was born to work, move, think, and shine.

⚡ Keeping her happy
If she isn’t used as a working dog, she still needs a full programme of mental and physical challenges to stay balanced and content. Activities like advanced obedience, agility training, tricks, scent work, bite work, and other intensive challenges are not optional—they’re essential. Without them, she will be bored, frustrated, and unhappy.

👉 For the right person, Dona isn’t “too much.” She’s exactly enough. Her behaviours don’t need erasing—they need honing, shaping, and fine-tuning, the same way you’d refine a high-performance machine. With the right handler, those traits become not just manageable, but extraordinary.

🐑 Her softer side
But don’t mistake her drive for being all business. When Dona’s not in superpower mode, she melts into affection—coming in for cuddles and back scratches, as gentle as a lamb. That balance of unstoppable working dog and loving companion makes her truly one of a kind.

✨ Dona isn’t for everyone—but for the right person, she’ll be unforgettable. 💥
