Merton Mencap A learning disability is life-long. It means that someone cannot learn communicate or understand as others do.

Providing a wide range of high quality, innovative projects, activities & support services, for people with a learning disability / autism & their family carers in the London Borough of Merton People with a learning disability face barriers in all aspects of their lives, throughout their lives, in health care, in education, in training and employment, in housing and in social and leisure activities. Given the right support, people with a learning disability can lead very full and rewarding lives. At Merton Mencap, we enable some of the barriers faced by our users to be overcome, and we work to increase awareness and understanding of learning disability in our community and of the need to be more inclusive

The Giving Back Club😁Today, our members were delighted to support Little A.R.K by creating vibrant fabric streamers🎐 for an upcoming art installation🙌 Catch their work on display😀 from the 21st – 24th of October at Merton Library 🏛️Working side-by-side🤜🤛 the team cut✂️ and knotted🪢a variety of colourful fabrics🏵️Though challenging at times, everyone persevered beautifully with a little support and guidance👌It was a fantastic session for boosting fine motor skills👍learning colour coordination👍and seeing how individual efforts combine to create a large-scale piece of community art🌟

Hello everyone! 👋🙂 We had a fantastic outdoor session at Saturday Hub yesterday. 👍 Everybody enjoyed the warm and sunny weather ☀️🌻 whilst having a recreational stroll 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️and playing variety of parachute games in the local park. 👌 All participants had a great time, lots of fun and laughter.😀👏

💜 COULD YOU HELP SHAPE BETTER SEND SERVICES IN MERTON?

Merton Parent Carer Forum is recruiting new Steering Group Representatives!
MPCF is parent-led, and our Steering Group helps ensure that the collective experiences and voices of parent carers influence local SEND services.
We're looking for parent carers who want to make a positive difference and work collaboratively with families and local partners.

You could help us:
💜 REPRESENT – Bring the collective parent-carer voice into strategic discussions
🌱 SHAPE – Help identify priorities and influence services
🤝 CO-PRODUCE – Work with education, health, social care and voluntary-sector partners
📣 INFLUENCE – Contribute to strategic discussions and engagement

You don't need to be an expert.
You don't need previous governance or committee experience.
We value lived experience, listening, collaboration and a willingness to learn.
Full induction, mentoring, training and ongoing support are provided.

The expected commitment is around 4–8 hours a month, with flexibility wherever possible because we know family and caring responsibilities come first.
We particularly welcome parent carers from Merton's diverse communities, including people whose voices and experiences may be less often heard.

The Giving Back Club😁 In today’s session, we took an exciting trip to London’s Science Museum 😆Exploring the massive galleries👍from top⬆️ to bottom⬇️ From the industrial age😀 to space exploration😀 Members liked engaging with the hands-on displays🕹️and puzzles😄 The session fostered brilliant team spirit🤜🤛 sparking curious conversations🗣️ and letting everyone discover things at their own pace👏 It was a fun-filled session that left everyone feeling completely inspired🙌

Hello all! 👋 🙂We had a fantastic drumming session at Saturday Hub last weekend. 👌 Everyone enjoyed playing different type of drums and instruments. 🎶 All of us had a great time 👯‍♀️🕺👩‍🎤 👏. The session provider was brilliant! He made everyone engaged and entertained.👍😀

The Giving Back Club😁Fantastic session today😄 A vibrant Zumba class💃🕺It was our very first session😆and both members and staff came ready to groove🙌We kicked off with a gentle warm-up set to music designed to wake up the body👀 increase heart rates💗and prepare muscles💪From there, we transitioned into a vibrant mix of tunes🎼For our first time trying this interval-style routine😀everyone did amazing👌dancing💃🕺focusing on their own moves👏and having an absolute blast😁The choreography was highly accessible🎯making it easy for everyone to follow along👏

A huge thank you to Daniela for making our first session so energetic and full of smiles🤝
