Our footcare services - Tuesday Mornings.

Each Tuesday we have our "Funky Feet" sessions, where Anjela or Catherine will carry our basic footcare such as toenail cutting and removal of hard skin.

Each appointment costs £20.

Community acupuncture at The Merton and Morden Guild - Wednesday 26th August.

As part of a programme of sessions, we are holding an acupuncture session at 1:30 on Wednesday.

The Merton and Morden Guild - Staff and volunteering and contributes.

For a small independent charity, The Guild provides a good range of social activities for older people and services for individuals, such as our foot services and acupuncture sessions.

The size of the organisation means we all have to do a bit of everything with Hamish, seen wielding a brush outdoors, and Anjela the vacuum cleaner indoors.

We also rely on a fine and very reliable team of volunteers with thanks going to Jo, Niki, Kainut, Vashanthy and Tina for significant support over the summer. A specific mention to Taylor, previously our work experience student who has given up school holidays to help in a variety of ways.

Finally, thanks to those people who attend for helping welcome new members.

We were pleased to receive two unsolicited compliments this week:

"Just a brief message:
Please give my thanks to all this morning.
I started the day feeling very depressed, but thanks to you, I'm feeling much better, I really am very grateful to you; I'm fining quite hard these days and without the Guild to look forward to, I don't think I could cope as well as I appear to be coping."

"You and Anjela and other helpers do a marvellous job; you probably don't realise what a good job you do. The other members, like me are no doubt very grateful.

The visit of Councillor Neddy Dan Nedra Daniel. To our coffee morning on Wednesday 19th August 2026.

We were pleased to see one of our head councillors last Wednesday and she spent the morning chatting about wills and related subjects like setting up a Power of Attorney, an interesting and informal session on topics of great interest to older people.

Lunch outing to The Station pub in Stoneleigh - Tuesday 18th August 2026

A party of 15 enjoyed the short haul to Stoneleigh for lunch in The Station pub. With good weather and fine catering, it was a welcome repeat of our visit earlier in the year.

The London borough of Merton - Sexual Health Strategy.

The council is renewing its sexual health strategy and an organisation called "New Dialogue" has been asked to find out about Mertons sexual and reproductive health and H.I.V needs.

"New Dialogue" would like to hear from all age groups but note that the sexual health of older people is often overlooked. If you would like to take part and help the council understand what is important to local people, you can complete a ten-minute survey at:

Our Little Graden
This picture shows Anjela transferring our sunflowers from our back garden to the front, brightening up our car park. Still out back our tomatoes, various herbs and marigolds continue to thrive. It is a nice and quiet place to sit. Our thanks goes to Olga and Viktor for getting us started.

Bingo Afternoons: Mondays at 1:30 PM

On Monday afternoons we host bingos for older people. Each book costs 60p and the sessions ends at about 3:30 PM. Las Vegas it is not but it's a cheerful occasion that comes with comes with tea and of course cake.
