Fantastic morning spent in the sun with volunteers and friends in the Susie Cooper Community Garden creating the display to celebrate VJ Day. Loving the community spirit of the village as people stop to chat.

We did an hour on the Millrise Road Canal Bridge bed planted some bronze leafed Lobelias-Victoria.
Deadheaded and trimmed the dead leaves off. Gave the bed a good soaking as it is sandy due to years of building crap being dumped there. It started to rain but still watered as the plant's roots will search out moisture and rise to the surface after a light shower, then the first sunny or windy dry day comes along and it dries out the soil and the roots and the plant dies. The bed is looking great and will be fabulous when well established.
