World Mental Health day falls in National Hygiene Week- and we don’t think that’s a coincidence.

We know how detrimental poor hygiene is to a person’s mental health, so during National Hygiene Week, and especially today, we urge you to consider what it feels like to have to choose between food, heating and hygiene, because that is the stark reality for many.

But that’s why we do what we do! To help those in this situation and support them and their mental health. Maybe you can help to…

This morning we enjoyed a visit from the lovely ladies of Bow Brickhill WI.
They had a tour of our warehouse, and presented us with some amazing bags they had put together to help those in hygiene poverty.
We are so grateful for their support. ❤️

🩸Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day 🩸

Meet Angela. She and her family are some of the 5.3 million people in the UK who are having to decide between food and toiletries. It isn’t about cleanliness, or even mental and physical wellbeing, hygiene poverty is blocking Angela’s opportunities and impacting her mental health - going without period products, shampoo or toothpaste causes Angela suffering every day.

By supporting The Hygiene Bank you can help someone like Angela get back their health, confidence and freedom. Your donation isn’t just a gift - it’s a lifeline, ensuring Angela doesn’t have to face the shame and isolation of hygiene poverty alone.

• £1.50 could provide tampons for a month giving someone like Angela the freedom to go to work, socialise and feel comfortable
• £15 could provide a menstrual cup to give someone the ability to manage their own period in a clean and hygienic way
• £32 could provide enough pads for a whole year ensuring someone like Angela’s daughter can go to school without interruption

Our distributions for April

What a great month! It’s great to be able to support other hygiene banks through transfers and to be working closely with our local family centres too!

5.3 million people in the UK are forced to choose between buying food or toiletries. This is unfair and unjust.

🚨 Soap is not a luxury – it’s a necessity! 🚨Yet, the UK government still taxes it at 20%, while gold bars and lobsters are VAT-free. 🤯

📢 Sign the petition to ask the Government to remove VAT on soap https://www.change.org/p/stopthesoaptax
