A5 Old Stratford Roundabout to Kelly Kitchen’s Roundabout – beam & post replacement

Beam and post replacement work is scheduled on the A5 Old Stratford Roundabout to Kelly Kitchen’s Roundabout. Once complete, drivers will benefit from the A5 remaining in a safe and serviceable condition.

It is planned to complete this work over approximately six weeks starting from Monday 22 June 2026. Work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, the A5 northbound between Old Stratford Roundabout and Kelly’s Kitchen Roundabout will be closed in phases.

Aspecial project has been set up to map memories of Queen Elizabeth II
In a special project, the Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial website has been set up to map the key moments in the life and reign of Britain’s longest serving monarch, as a permanent record for future generations.

Every memory submitted will make the memorial richer and more representative of Queen Elizabeth’s global legacy.
Any memory can be shared; contributors don’t need to have met her to be part of the digital memorial.

Resurfacing on the A5 between Abbey Hill Interchange and the Old Stratford Roundabout

Work is scheduled overnight on Thursday 4 June 2026 between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely we will need to close A5 between Abbey Hill Interchange and the Old Stratford Roundabout and divert traffic as follows:
• Drivers should exit at Abbey Hill and take the second left at the roundabout onto H3 Monks Way
• At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto Watling Street
• Turn left from Watling Street onto Millers Way and continue to Hodge Lea Roundabout
• At Hodge Lea Roundabout take the third exit onto V5 Great Monks Street
• Follow the V5 Great Monks Streer to Abbey Hill Roundabout
• At Abbey Hill Roundabout take the second exit onto the A5 south slip road towards Aylesbury/Dunstable/Milton Keynes South/Milton Keynes Central/A4146
