This week we celebrate volunteers week.

Volunteers are such an important part of Maggie's, supporting in our centres and with fundraising activities. We would like to thank all our volunteers who show a great deal of care and compassion, and who have supported us in bringing Maggie's to Middlesbrough.

"The fact Maggie's is right there in The James Cook University Hospital grounds means that if you’re going for an appointment, you can just go to Maggie’s to talk about your treatment and the side effects, or just relax away from the ward.

"It’s so helpful to have a space like Maggie’s in the local area to come in and talk to someone about what you’re going through. You can have a cup of tea and you can get things off your chest. It makes such a difference.

"On a day when you’ve had bad news, going into a place like Maggie’s gives you the opportunity to offload everything before you bring it all home with you.”

Something BIG is brewing at Maggie’s ☕🧁

Host a Bake and Brew in June to help raise money for people living with cancer and those who love them.

Bake and Brew is all about bringing people together over delicious cakes and cuppas, all while supporting Maggie’s. There’s no set recipe: host anytime, anywhere, and make it your own.

Every cuppa served and cake baked will help provide more practical and emotional support for the people who need us most.

When you sign up, you’ll receive a free fundraising pack filled with invitations, cake flags, bunting, posters and everything you need to make your event a success.

We are looking for passionate volunteers to help both in our centre, and to support our fundraising team.

Centre volunteers warmly welcome our centre visitors with a hot drink, a brief overview of support at Maggie's and introduce them to a member of the team.

Fundraising volunteers will provide support at external fundraising events throughout the year at various sporting events, community events and stalls, and helping us to raise awareness of our new Middlesbrough Centre.
