We jest, of course! She's been out in the field again reviewing South Yorkshire's finest.

See what her verdict was when Souvenir - A Tribute To Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark took to the stage at Gorilla Beer Hall.

Cast your minds back with me. The year is 1979. The month is May. 'Electricity' by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is born, and music as we know it is forever changed.

We are currently carrying out a major revamp of 👉🏻 southyorkshiremusicscene.uk

One of the biggest changes will be the expansion of the SYMS Directory, with dedicated listings for:

• ARTISTS
• VENUES
• PROMOTERS / EVENT ORGANISERS
• MUSIC STORES
• REHEARSAL / RECORDING STUDIOS
• EQUIPMENT HIRE / BACKLINE
• PHOTOGRAPHERS / VIDEOGRAPHERS
• TUTORS
• TECHNICIANS

We are also rebuilding the system to give people far more control over their own listings, allowing them to update information, images, links, events and details whenever needed.

The aim is for listings to feel more like active profiles than just static posts on a community board.

We will also be introducing a dedicated MUSICIANS AVAILABLE / WANTED section to help connect bands, artists and musicians across South Yorkshire.

Most importantly, we want this platform to actually serve the people using it.

Bank holiday weekends like we've just had call for a few things: an ice cold beverage, factor 50 suncream, and a phenomenal acoustic act.

We are saddened to see REYT FEST announce their cancellation.

Anyone who has ever organised independent live music events knows just how much work, pressure, time and personal sacrifice goes into making something like this happen long before doors even open.

Thinking of the organisers, bands, vendors, crew and everyone affected by this. Grassroots music is built by people putting their hearts into creating something for their local scene, and it’s never easy when things don’t work out the way they were hoped to.

We genuinely hope this isn’t the end for REYT FEST and that they’re able to regroup in the future. South Yorkshire needs live music, local events and the people willing to fight to keep them going. 🖤
