The Tour de France comes to Merthyr next July. There are volunteering opportunities to get involved but the applications close on 1st September. If you fancy being involved in this one off event you can apply in the link.

Merthyr Council are asking for our view on their Active Travel future plans and where the money that they get for developing Active Travel routes is spend.

Active travel routes in Wales are designated paths intended for walking, wheeling (including wheelchairs and mobility scooters), scooting, or cycling.

Twyn Community Hub are hosting a drop in session at 6pm this evening (25th Aug) to meet the Active Travel officer and share ideas, views and concerns on existing routes and potential future routes and enhancements.

Everyone welcome. There may even be tea and biscuits. ☕️🍪

The Active Travel lead at Merthyr Council will be at the Twyn hub at 6pm on Tuesday as part of her consultation on future active travel plans. Anyone with questions, ideas or issues can come along. Everyone welcome.

Do you use the footpaths, tracks and trails around Merthyr to get around by walking, cycling, in a wheelchair or on a mobility scooter? Representatives of Merthyr Council responsible for our active travel routes and future plans will be at the hub on Tuesday evening at 6pm as part of their consultation on what needs improving and to help shape future plans.

Please join us for a cuppa and a chat and make sure your ideas for the future as well as any concerns and issues are are passed on. We have limited opportunities to feed into strategies and plans so let’s make the most of this one.

We’ve got 2 bike rides this weekend.

On Saturday we’ll ride to Aberfan Community Centre, a flat route ideal for new or returning riders. On Sunday we’ll ride on the Taff Trail to Brecon Mountain Railway- Tearooms at Pontsticill Reservoir.

Bikes, e-bikes, our new e-trike and helmets available and all free. Contact us for more information or to book a bike.

We’ve slotted in an extra ride this week. We’ve got our usual trike session at Afon Taf High School on Monday at 6pm and our ride to The Red Cow Pontsticill on Thursday. In addition, on Tuesday, we’ll ride to Parc Taf Bargoed leaving Rhydycar at 10am. Free use of community bikes, ebikes and helmets available.
