🎡 Fairground Fun & Friday Feast — Be a Part of Keeping Marlborough Strong!

Today and next Saturday, High Street is transforming into the wonderful Marlborough Mop Fair! 🎉 It’s one of the most exciting times of the year, and seeing our local kids and families out laughing, playing, and making memories is exactly what makes our town so special.

But while the fair brings so much joy, we know that many families in our community are still quietly facing tough times.

Behind the scenes every single Friday, the Love Marlborough Kids Meals team works to ensure that local children and families who need a helping hand still get to sit down to a warm, nutritious meal—especially as the autumn weather gets chillier.

To keep this vital safety net running, we need you! We operate a highly flexible rota, so you don’t need to commit every single week—just whenever you can spare an hour or two. We are a warm, inclusive, and friendly group who would love to welcome you.

✨ Ways You Can Help on Friday:
👩‍🍳 Kitchen Team (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Help us prep, cook, and package up our Friday meals in the kitchen. (No professional cooking experience needed—just a willing pair of hands!)

🚗 Delivery Team (4:15 PM – 5:15 PM): Deliver the hot meals by car to families in Marlborough and surrounding villages. (Note: A standard DBS check will be carried out for drivers and we will handle the process).

While the fairground rides are spinning, you can help us keep the community heart beating! ❤️

Whether you can join us once a month or every other week, you will be making a massive difference to a local child’s Friday.

❤️Heartfelt Thanks from Love Marlborough Kids Meals! ❤️

We are so deeply grateful to share that we have been awarded £1,500 through the Tesco Stronger Starts grant scheme!

It was a privilege to stand alongside the other wonderful local causes involved in this round. Every single organization in the voting scheme does incredible work for our town, and we are so proud to be part of such a caring community.

We had the pleasure of meeting Patrick, the Store Manager of Tesco Marlborough, and Amber, Tesco’s Community Ambassador, who presented us with this wonderful cheque!

Sarah Hicks

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sarah Hicks – a remarkable woman whose kindness, compassion and quiet determination changed the lives of countless people in our community.

Sarah was one of the founding members of Love Marlborough Kids Meals. As a school dinner lady for many years, she understood better than most the importance of a hot, nutritious meal and the difference it could make to a child and their family. When the project began, she was there from the very start, bringing not only her experience and practical skills, but also an unwavering belief that together we could make a difference.

In those early days, Sarah worked tirelessly, cooking chickens in shifts across two different church kitchens so that families who were struggling would have food on the table. It wasn’t glamorous work, and it certainly wasn’t easy, but Sarah never sought recognition. She simply rolled up her sleeves and got on with what needed to be done.

To me personally, Sarah was so much more than a colleague. She was my encourager, my sounding board and one of my greatest supporters. Through every challenge she stood beside me, offering wisdom, reassurance and a healthy dose of common sense whenever it was needed. She taught me countless life lessons, many of which I carry with me every day. Her influence helped shape not only me, but the very heart and values of Love Marlborough Kids Meals.

Today, the project continues to feed more than 200 people every week. That legacy belongs to many wonderful volunteers, but Sarah’s fingerprints are woven throughout everything we do. Her compassion, generosity and commitment remain at the heart of the charity she helped to build.

Sarah never measured success by praise or recognition. She measured it by whether someone was fed, whether a family felt supported, and whether a burden had been lightened. That simple philosophy touched hundreds of lives and inspired everyone fortunate enough to work alongside her.

While we mourn Sarah’s passing, we also celebrate a life lived in service to others. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship and practical love that will continue to nourish our community for many years to come.

Thank you, Sarah, for believing in the vision, for your endless hard work, for your friendship, and for teaching us that the greatest acts of love are often the quietest ones.

You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and never forgotten

Behind the scenes at Love Marlborough Kids Meals, every delivery day is a race against the clock! ⏰

Cooking dozens of fresh, hot meals in just a short span of time is never easy—especially during these warm summer weeks. But thanks to incredible teamwork, our kitchen team makes it look seamless week after week.

Here is a quick look at what it takes behind the kitchen doors.

🍗 Preparation: Getting all the chicken bags and foil trays ready, and loading up the trays with fresh vegetables and chicken to go straight into the ovens.

🔥 Cooking: Managing the hot ovens and making sure everything is roasted and cooked to perfection on a tight deadline.

📦 Packing: Carefully portioning out the roast chicken, potatoes andveggies , then packing the meals into insulated hot boxes so they stay piping hot for delivery.

🧽 Cleaning Up: And finally, tackling the giant stack of trays, pots, and pans so the kitchen is left sparkling clean!

It takes a huge amount of effort, coordination, and heart before those hot boxes ever reach our delivery drivers' cars.

Waitrose to the Rescue: A Sincere Thank You From Our Team

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the team at Waitrose in Marlborough for coming to our rescue yesterday.

After being let down at the last minute by our usual supplier, our kitchen was left in a critical position. We reached out to Waitrose, who listened to our emergency request, kindly made a donation, and worked quickly to source the extra chickens we desperately needed.

Because of their swift generosity, our volunteers were able to prepare 49 family dinners for local children without delay. We are incredibly grateful to the management and staff for stepping in so willingly to support our project and the local community when it mattered most.

Thank you for your continued support, and thank you once again to everyone at Waitrose.

Every single Friday, our incredible volunteers hit the road in their own personal cars. They navigate the changing weather and the weekday traffic to ensure local children get their meals with zero fuss, zero forms, and zero red tape.

Because demand is growing, we are officially looking for new volunteer drivers to join our Friday delivery team!🔑🙌
