Friends of Birstall Library

Friends of Birstall Library WE’D LIKE YOU TO BE OUR FRIEND! BIRSTALL LIBRARY - is a social hub for the village – after all, as well as being first & foremost a LIBRARY -

BIRSTALL LIBRARY - is a social hub for the village – after all, as well as being first & foremost a LIBRARY - it has Birstall’s last remaining public toilet in it! Joking aside, it is the jewel in our civic crown – and all – young, old, the shopping trolley, wheelchair & the pushchair user - can be assured of a friendly welcome. On top of all this, it provides educational and recreational activiti

es for the whole of the community too (the readers’ group, Knit & Natter, the writing group, Health Walks, monthly coffee mornings with speakers, Story Time & children’s activities – to name but a few ...). The recently formed FRIENDS OF BIRSTALL LIBRARY aims to keep it that way – in fact, we seek to promote & support our wonderful library and its services at every opportunity. There is a FRIENDS noticeboard in the library itself & the FRIENDS committee meets once a month
At the moment, our main concern is that the library be KEPT OPEN, with:
⦁ adequate professional staff
⦁ appropriate opening hours
⦁ the widest possible range of books, newspapers, magazines and other materials in audio, visual and electronic formats and
⦁ a team of volunteers to support the library staff whenever we’re needed ...
*SO – USE YOUR LIBRARY
(IT NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER ...)*
*TAKE PART IN AN ACTIVITY – OR SET ONE UP OF YOUR OWN*
*KEEP AN EYE ON THE ‘FRIENDS’ NOTICEBOARD –
