Shetland Care Attendant Scheme

Shetland Care Attendant Scheme Overnight support is also provided to give carers a full night's uninterrupted sleep.

Shetland Care Attendant Scheme provides short breaks to carers in their own homes, including overnights, throughout Shetland by providing trained, competent Care Attendants to enable the carer to have some premium quality time to use in any way they wish. Shetland Care Attendant Scheme Ltd is a recognised Scottish Charity (SC020042), limited by guarantee (SC172153) who aims to:-
- relieve stress o

n the person or family caring for physically or mentally disabled or
elderly persons, and
- in appropriate circumstances to care for disabled or elderly persons living alone
(whose carers live elsewhere)
This is done by providing trained Care Attendants who go into homes throughout Shetland and looking after the "cared for person" while the carer has a break from their caring responsibility, some quality time to themselves, with the knowledge that their loved one is happy and being kept safe. This enables the carer to continue in their caring role knowing they are going to have regular breaks, and thus enables them to keep their loved one staying at home.
