A little more information about Alex’s Legacy and his wishes for The Alex Able Retreat 💖

Some may wonder why Alex wanted any funds raised to go towards a place of nature and beauty should his treatment not be successful. With his cancer being so rare you may think that research would have been a better choice, and Alex did consider this. However, Cancer Research and other charities already have considerable funds donated annually and with Rhabdoid Tumours being so rare, it is highly unlikely the money would be used for this as they have to prioritise the cancers which affect the most people.

Alex found peace when surrounded by nature, he found it grounding and it allowed him to calm his mind and be present. He wanted to offer others in similar situations this gift and create a space where they could escape their troubles and focus on themselves and their healing journey!

I for one am incredibly excited to see his vision brought to life 💖

Below is the update and a link to his go fund me page as always 💓

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended Alex’s service and celebration of his life on Friday.

We weren’t surprised but were extremely moved by how many people wanted to be there; so many family, friends, work colleagues and school mates.

The day was everything Alex wanted - a beautiful day for a truly beautiful soul. We celebrated his many hobbies and talents- showcasing his art, music and love of motorbikes. We spent the evening sharing stories and memories- the room was filled with nothing but love for a man we all adored.

We spoke about Alex’s legacy. Alex (as had we all) hoped that he would help set up and run the retreat; he wanted to plant an allotment and offer guests home grown organic produce as part of their welcome baskets. Alex imagined we’d have a studio with a view, allowing people to paint or meditate, he wanted us to have bee’s to produce our own honey… and maybe a naughty goat or two!

It’s not built yet but it already feels like a a peaceful and inspiring place where healing really does feel like home ❤️

We are so grateful that so many family and friends want to be involved in Alex’s Charity; some will become trustees, others have offered to help with the day to day running. We have skilled friends who will help design cabins, plant the gardens, supply furniture/ equipment, fundraise or promote.

Alex is missed beyond words, quite simply, our lives will never be the same again …but together we will make sure Alex’s vision becomes a reality. The Alex Able Retreat gives us something positive and impactful to focus on, ensuring that Alex’s name and memory lives on- just as he wanted.

For the time being we are leaving this account as it is whilst we speak with GoFundMe to discuss the best way to swap over to a charity account. In the meantime we hope you will continue to support Alex by sharing his story and this link.

With love from all us ###x

The message no one wanted to write but was so eloquently put by Katie!

It is with utterly broken hearts we inform you that Alex, our brave and handsome boy, passed away on Tuesday 2nd September.

He had just completed the first week of his new treatment plan but tragically suffered a fatal brain bleed…he quietly slipped away, surrounded by family and wrapped in the arms of his courageous and devoted wife Elle.

I don’t claim to understand the purpose of why he was taken so soon or why Elle has been left without him… but I do know that although the lifetime they planned was cruelly cut short, the love they shared and impact it had, ensures their souls will be forever entwined.

Maybe the story of our life is scripted long before any of us are born- destiny had already planned that these two soulmates would meet, would fall in love and for whatever reason, would endure this fate together.

On the night we left the hospital for the last time, the Nurses and staff lined the hallway to pay their respects to Alex and to cuddle and praise Elle. They were so in awe of the love, care, maturity and selflessness she had shown- Sleeping on a chair besides her husband for 6 weeks straight, being with him every single day- a level of dedication they rarely saw and sadly many never experience.

Her strength and determination to find treatments, to keep Alex positive and to tirelessly fight for him was acknowledged by everyone who met them. Family and friends are so proud of her but more importantly, Alex was so immensely proud of her. He told his friends that without her love, he would have never have made it as far as he had… he felt lucky to have her by his side and Elle feels lucky to have loved him.

Alex has left his mark on all of us; we are all somehow better for having him in our lives- that is felt by the gaping hole he leaves in our hearts.

There are so many things I wish could have been different for him, so many things he deserved better. We would have fought to the end of time to make him well but it was clear in the end that his body was tired, he’d had enough.

In the last 6 weeks we’ve had some wonderful and sometimes painful conversations- we spoke about things no parent ever wants to. We discussed his hopes, fears and what Alex’s legacy would be. I assured him that we would celebrate his memory always, and promised to help others in his name.

We are therefore turning their GoFundMe Account into the Registered Charity Alex wanted to establish, despite the outcome of his own battle. We will fulfil his dream of relocating to Shropshire where we will build the kind of place he and Elle so desperately needed but could not access.

The Alex Able Retreat will offer visitors a cosy and homely place to stay and heal. Surrounded in the beauty of nature that Alex so wanted for himself. We will ensure that each guest, receives a little bit of the love that was supposed to be for him.

Elle and I thank you all so much for your generosity and support to date; and we really hope you will continue to support us, to raise funds and share Alex’s story… it doesn’t end here, Alex’s legacy will live on.

Together The Alex Able Retreat will make someone else’s journey a little easier and offer hope when it feels like there is none -let’s continue to make Alex proud!

All my love,
Katie ###

A huge, huge thanks to Andrea Bellamy and her friend for kicking off our fundraising events! 👏🏽🎉🍾

Andrea and Juliette worked non-stop on a Saturday, offering treats and mini pamper sessions, all whilst sharing Alex’s story! 🥳💖😍

In one day, they managed to raise a whopping £360 to go toward Alex’s treatment and the customers left relaxed, smiling and armed with the knowledge to spread Alex’s journey far and wide!

💙💙💙

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Every idea, every share and every donation gets us that bit closer to giving Alex the second chance at life he so deserves!

Please continue blasting his story out into the world and get in touch if you have an idea for fundraising! Every single one of you is vital in fighting this!

🏍️ Calling All Riders – Let’s Ride for Alex! 🧡
Alex is one of us.
A warrior. A dreamer. A man who found freedom on two wheels and wind in his soul.

But right now, he’s parked—not by choice, but by a one-in-a-million rare cancer that’s trying to take away his future.

💥 We’re asking bikers, road lovers, and warriors of every kind:
Let’s fuel his fight. Let’s rally behind him. Let’s give him a reason to ride again.

🚨 This isn’t just about money.
It’s about brotherhood.
It’s about belief.
It’s about giving a fellow rider the chance to chase the open road again.

👇 How you can help:
🛠️ Donate whatever you can
🔁 Share this with your riding club
✍️ Leave a message of strength
📸 Post a photo of your bike with the tag

💬 “One day, I’ll ride again.” – Alex
Let’s make that day come faster. Because we’re bikers. We don’t leave anyone behind.
