The Inspire and Achieve Foundation

The Inspire and Achieve Foundation The Inspire and Achieve Foundation helps unemployed young people aged 16-26 overcome barriers and get back into education, employment or training.

The Inspire and Achieve Foundation (IAF) is a local charity, based in Mansfield and Ashfield, and reaching out into the wider Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area. It exists solely to help young people aged 16 to 25 who have had difficult starts find the support they need to overcome or manage their problems and take positive steps towards finding work. We look at a young person’s potential rather

than judge them on their past and make sure they get another chance. 65% - 70% of those we support are able to move into employment, education or training each year as a result. We continue to work with young people as long as it takes to achieve results. We deliver outreach projects that offer the one-to-one support young people need to progress, and provide programmes and workshops to improve their work skills, social skills, employability and confidence. Through these programmes, we ensure that our young people have the best chance of gaining a place on a college course or have routes into employment or voluntary work. If you are an unemployed young person, we can support you completely free in different ways, including fun activities, such as sports, arts and independent living projects. The activities will help you or someone you know to build confidence, self-esteem, communication skills and motivation and inspire you to move forward and achieve. We can also help you to access loads of bite- size workshops to prepare you to progress into education, employment and training, suited to you and your individual needs. These will help you brush up on any essential skills, knowledge or personal development; you need to have a positive experience in whatever you choose to do! Throughout your journey with the charity, you will have support available to help you overcome any barriers you face to education, employment or training, from a mentor. This support is also still available once you have accessed a job, course or training programme, if you want it. We can even help you to help make a difference to others, once you’re sorted.

We're embracing creativity this week with a timetable packed with problem solving challenges. Young people visiting this week can;

💡Join the adventure as our Dungeon's & Dragons party encounter new characters and prepare to battle.
💡Head into the IT suite for a guided introduction to 3D design and printing.
💡Think creatively about their job search, exploring all the different places we can look for opportunities and how to get their CV noticed.
💡Bring their favourite flavour combo to the life skills kitchen as more teams go head to head in Ready, Steady, Cook!

Meanwhile, our next Team programme in Worksop is starting today and they are all set for a week of teambuilding ahead of their residential trip. Lots to look forward to as ever so why not come and take a look around: https://www.inspireandachieve.co.uk/programmes/hub

Yesterday Pippa, Jamie and Saeed had the pleasure of representing IAF at The King's Trust 50th Anniversary Garden Party which celebrated the people and stories that continue to inspire positive change for young people across the UK. Here in Nottinghamshire, we're incredibly proud of all the young people who work through our Team and Achieve programmes; 81% of whom successfully transitioned into employment, education or training in the last year.

These results certainly call for celebration and as more young people begin their King's Trust journeys over the next two weeks, there is always more to look forward to. Buckingham Palace, we'll see you again in future and a huge thank you to Marc Darcy for dressing our gents for the occassion!

The Hub reopens today following the bank holiday and it's set to be a fantastic week! We start the week exploring our strengths in the employability lounge before being joined by VIY to hear about their latest local projects and how to get involved. Meanwhile our XP activities programme is challenging young people to think creatively; whether that's strategic character building in DnD or though our Ready, Steady, Cook! Challenge in the lifeskills kitchen, there's plenty of opportunities to build confidence as you explore and create.

As always, IAF's mentoring support is available to any young person struggling to find work or take their next steps into education. If this is you, or someone you know, please reach out to us or call into the Hub at 159 Yorke Street (NG19 9NJ): https://www.inspireandachieve.co.uk/

Another great week ahead at the Hub 🙌 Get stuck into a lively debate session to sharpen your communication skills or come along to the board game café for some relaxed fun and friendly competition.

We'll also be hosting our Alternative Provision Open Event, giving visitors a chance to see the amazing work happening here, and welcoming a guest speaker from the NHS to share valuable insights into career pathways.

Let's not forget a special shoutout to volunteer Jordan, who will be leading his very first indoor sports session at the hub – we’re excited to see the impact he’ll make and hope you all come along to show your support.

We currently have 20 places available at our alternative provision in Mansfield so this message is for Nottinghamshire parents who feel stuck in between the education systems. For the families who are told their children’s needs are too complex for mainstream but don't meet the threshold for specialist schools, and are not being supported anywhere else. If this is you, and your child is out of education because their needs were not met in mainstream provision, please hear this message clearly: We are here to help.

Young people with an EHCP are entitled to access education which understands their needs, their barriers, and most importantly their potential up to age 25. The 20 unfilled places we have available for young people aged 16+ could be making a big difference for your family or somebody that you know or support... if we can connect.

Find out more on our website or pop along to our open event next week: www.achievementunlockedap.co.uk

Our take over has arrived at the hub and we are bringing our own style of careers activities to help young people engage with careers information and guidance. We want young people to leave our sessions feeling inspired and excited about their personal development journey so we have everything from practical taster sessions to develop industry skills, to informative workshops which give young people a roadmap to career success.

As always, these XP events are free to participate in and there are plenty of breakout spaces across the hub which give young people a chance to develop social skills too. Check out the full XP timetable on our website: https://www.inspireandachieve.co.uk/programmes/xp
