Woodhouse Colts JFC WELCOME TO WOODHOUSE COLTS FC
Local community charter standard football club Woodhouse Colts was established 35 years ago in 1977.

However we are led to believe that we are a lot older, but only got snippets of information to go on. Woodhouse Colts originally began life as a 6 a side team known as Marplea Colts playing in the Woodhouse Lions annual tournament on the ground next to the Turner Hall (Mansfield Woodhouse). The team members originally came from the Marples Avenue & Leadale Crescent area (hence the original name) a

nd played in whatever white shirts we had. Once established we moved to Park Hall playing fields which are now part of the Manor Complex. The first side played at U12 level in the Mansfield Youth League where some of of teams still play and train today. As some of the players back then were too old to play at U12's so they were taken into the U14's of the league (albeit a year under age). The Under 14's were bolstered with players such as Neil Banks and David Barson (Neil went on to play for England schoolboys). The U12's were Runners Up in the KO Cup and the League loosing out to Sheffield Utd. Nursery side called Thorpe Salvin... This did not prevent Woodhouse Colts rolling them over 1-0 in the final of the Benevolent Cup played at Bilsthorpe MW and bringing home their first pieces of silverware. This marked the start of many things to come and Woodhouse Colts had truly arrived.

7 years ago we became a Chartered Standard Club consisting of 17 teams, ranging from U7's, though to a senior team and pleased to say we also have 2 girls teams and a disability team. This constitutes to 180 boys and girls playing for us across various Leagues ie. Mansfield Youth League, Kickstart League, Young Elizabethan League, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire girls League and the Nottinghamshire Sunday League. Our determination and hard work over the years from the Players, Managers and Officials has paid off and some of our teams have moved their home games to Forest Town Welfare were we have signed a 20 year partnership and are in the process of returning the Pavilion and the Grounds to their former condition and are looking forward to becoming a Community Chartered Standard Club...

๐Ÿ“ฐ Match Report ๐Ÿ“ฐ 19/04/2026 West Bridgeford Tigers 1:2 Woodhouse Athena

Summary

Very pleased to get a win on our final game of the season against 3rd in the league. The girls overall were not at their best but still dominated in terms of creating clear cut chances, the score should have been much higher, therefore I can walk away with positives knowing on another day it may have been a 3-4 goal gap within the scoreline.
I wanted to try a few new things but nothing outrageous that would have any major impact on the result. Some things were certainly eye openers and has given me food for thought in terms of options for next season, whilst some other things just didnโ€™t click.
We have a gap week now until the girls transition into their first 11 a side game against Ravenshead u14s, I look forward to trying new formations, seeing our new players and watching the girls take that next step in their football journey ๐Ÿ˜Š

Match Report ๐Ÿ“ฐ 12/04/2026 Woodhouse Athena 1:2 Arnold Eagle Kites ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Summary
A disappointing result to conclude the league title, the girlโ€™s performance was far from their best today. Unfortunately, not just one or two had a bad day at the office which resulted in losing the game.
The fact we did not play well and still didnโ€™t struggle to match Kites, pushing them to 1-1 until the final few moments and gifting them a goal in the last 3 minutes of the game, gives me something positive to take away from the game knowing if we played to our full potential it would have been a relatively comfortable victory like the first game.
I am still proud of the girls, in two seasons winning the league and finishing runners up is a great achievement. We have one final game left against Tigers with less pressure; the girls can go out and enjoy themselves and wrap another good season off hopefully with a win.
Season 2026/2027 we will be transitioning into 11 a side and we have some new interest in players wanting to join, I am looking forward to seeing the girls take that next step and further develop as individuals and as a team.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Match Report- 22/03/2026 Keyworth Fireworks 1:2 Woodhouse Athena ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Summary
A tough away day this proved to be in the end, the scoreline not reflecting the performance in my opinion. Stats, possession, shots on goal etc were all dominated by Athena, could/should have been 1:7. Two close range opportunities not taken, hitting the woodwork and plenty of shots saved and just wide from loner range efforts.
Going into half time 1 nil down and producing a great second half performance was very pleasing. I witnessed some nice passing, communication, individual moments of skill majority of the time with a product a good cross or attempt on goal.
The pitch was tricky, dry and uneven causing the ball to bounce around more than usual.
Positives for me this week were as mentioned above, we created some nice openings. Through balls, crosses and some footwork where necessary to create the space. Also like last week, seeing a player in need of form really stepping up their performance and getting onto the scoresheet which is always a bonus. I could not really fault any player today, particularly the second half.
Negatives, we need to try and play out where we can not bypass the midfield unnecessarily. Also avoid playing across goal when opposing strikers are advancing. Secondly, we need to be more ruthless in front of goal, it could have cost us today and on another day dropped valuable points for the title race.
Next up is the main event, Athena VS Kites, the three outcomes possible are:
1. Kites win and the title is decided
2. Athena win and the title is decided
3. We draw with Kites and then need to win or draw against Tigers, a draw being enough as we would be on equal points to Kites but head-to-head, we would be favourable.

We have a few weeks break now, hopefully the girls will stay sharp ready for 12/04

๐Ÿ“ฐ Match Report - 18/01/2026 Woodhouse Athena 6:0 West Bridgeford Tigers ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Summary

Super proud of the girls after a long break and not played a match since November, to come out the blocks fast and take an early lead, then applying relentless pressure throughout the whole game. The girls looked like a team, passing the ball well and using each otherโ€™s strengths.
The main thing which impressed me was that desire to win the ball back if possession was given away, the work rate across the whole pitch was excellent. To bounce back against the same opponent who beat us 4-0 in November with a 6-0 victory was extremely pleasing!
Well done and bring on next week ๐Ÿ˜Š
