Thanks to CONTRACT FLOORING ASSOCIATION for inviting me to speak at their Manufacturer Committee meeting this morning. It's always good to engage with colleagues across the flooring sector to highlight our shared challenges around flooring waste and how UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance is facilitating the sector to address them. If you want to find out more about how you can get involved too - then please reach out. Collaboration is the only way forward...BTW, good job the meeting was online, as I've got a nasty cold and I'm sure no-one would have wanted to be in the same room - there is sharing and there's sharing! 🤧

This week, we are prepping for our next Takeback Working Group meeting where UKSFA members will be discussing important topics from backstamping protocol to pilot takeback studies, and deciding next steps - it's going to be a busy one, but that's just how we like it! Supporting the flooring sector to lead on sustainability is what we do by facilitating communication, collaboration and real outcomes. Should you be around that table?

UKSFA Member Case Study
Greendale Carpets & Flooring has developed an innovative reuse scheme that is helping tackle flooring poverty while keeping valuable materials out of landfill.
• Over £30,000 of carpet donated to households in need
• Around 20 tonnes of carpet and samples diverted from landfill each year
• Materials reused, repurposed, and recycled through charity and recycling partnerships
A fantastic example of the circular economy in action across the flooring sector.

'Operation exhibition flooring takeback’ successful! Facilitated by UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance, UKSFA, Carpets Like a Boss were able to collect lots of exhibition stand carpet from the yesterday after the show had finished.

Sadly, most exhibition flooring is skipped after only two or three days on the floor, but by working together, we’ve ensured that some of this high quality carpet will now be used for people in need.

Did you know that the majority of social housing flats and houses does not come with flooring or furniture? This has to change! Everyone deserves decent flooring.
