Sue, Rose & Caroline will be leading a ride 30 mile ride from FBC on Wednesday 5th August to The Barn at Bramley. PLEASE NOTE START TIME 8.30AM. The ride is mostly on lanes, there a number of hills, but nothing bigger than Plough Lane, so everyone will manage. Hope you can join us. Sue

PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK
In addition to the big social ride to Riseley for Afternoon cream tea on Thursday 6th August, your leaders will also be offering the following rides:
On Wednesday 5th, Sue, Rose and Caroline will be leading a 30 mile ride to Bramley from FBC (starting at 8.30)
On Friday 7th, Jill and Janet will run a shorter, easier ride (17 miles) to Fernygrove Farm cafe from Montague Park, at 9.30 (with the option of starting from St. Sebastian's to add a few more miles.)
The rides will be posted on Let's Ride and Facebook by tomorrow (Saturday.)

Slightly cooler this morning for our ride from St. Sebastian's hall to the Royal Oak at Knowl Hill Common. 😊 We cycled via Binfield, (but had to dismount and walk past yet more fly-tipping in Ryehurst Lane! 😖) on to Beenhams Heath and White Waltham then turned off road on to Knowl Hill bridleway tracks, taking a short hill up to the Royal Oak pub. The landlady was very welcoming and we were able to park our bikes in the garden and sit outside in the shade, enjoying the views, as well as very good coffee and homemade cakes. Our return journey was along a lot of narrow byways and tracks, to Waltham St. Lawrence, then back on roads to Wokingham. We welcomed Naomi today on her first ride in this area - she was a regular Breeze rider in Easingwold (Yorkshire) and is used to much bigger hills than we have here! Many thanks also to Annie, Karen, Nikki C and Nikki T for your good company on the ride. Jill

Another 8.30am start for our ride this morning, 6 ladies joined, Louise W, Sally P, Sally H, Sue, Hazel H & Janet assisting. Along Nelson's Lane we had to giveway to chickens crossing the road 😂. Going along Hungerford Lane there was a very large bang, we all stopped to find Louise's tyre had exploded!!😱. We walked her to the pond in Sherlock Row and left her calling her husband. (She had an adventure getting home - a lady stopped and took her to a cafe in Binfield, after coffee she left her bike there and found a bus was just arriving, to take her home!!). We continued on our route over to Sip & Spoke and then made our way back to Cantley. On route Sally P & Janet left us at Watmore Lane, Hazel left at Reading Road, leaving just the 3 of us to go back to Cantley. Ladies, thank you for an adventure this morning!! Sue

Our second ride today was a loop to Hambleden Lock pop up cafe. A beautiful day, if a tad hot by the time we finished. Nice to see Sue and her group briefly at Cantley before 08.30, where I presented a small gift to Caroline, on behalf of British Cycling, to celebrate her recent leadership training. This morning both Anne and Sue started their rides from Cantley at 8.30am to avoid the heat. It was lovely to meet up with everyone before we split into our 2 groups.
Sue's ride, with Caroline assisting, was on lanes up to Waltham St Lawrence then we took tracks (very shady!!) up to Burchett Green. Here we had a couple of sneaky climbs before a lovely long downhill into Hurley. We stopped at the very quaint village shop and met some interesting locals who were very chatty. We then took the path along the river, where a couple of us frolicked in the river (it was lovely and cool!). We then had a climb up to Warren Row, down Crazies Hill, Wargrave, Hurst and back to Cantley. Thank you Wendy, Lindsey, Daphne, Jill N, Gerald, Diane for joining us. Sue

On Thursday 6th August some leaders are offering a different ride, it's an afternoon ride going to Riseley Tearooms for Cream Tea, which costs £12.50 each for warm scones, cream, jam and tea or coffee.
I'm leading a 21 mile ride from Cantley with Hazel & Janet starting at 12.30pm. Here is my link

A POLITE REMINDER. Since our rides are very popular, please only book on ONE ride each week to give as many riders as possible a chance to get a space. If there is still a space on a ride the night before, then feel free to sign up to it even its your 2nd ride. Thankyou from all your leaders.
