💙 Sexual Health Workshops at Norbrook Youth Centre!

We’re pleased to be welcoming Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust to Norbrook Youth Centre for two sexual health workshops this October.

Open to young people aged 12–16, the sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about sexual health, ask questions and access information in a supportive environment.

Topics will include:
✅ Puberty
✅ Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
✅ Contraception
✅ Healthy relationships
✅ Questions and answers

𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. 💚

Seven young people aged 8-11 spent several weeks planning their own community activity, deciding what they wanted to do, how they’d organise it and how to make sure everyone stayed safe.

When the day came, they got stuck in 👏 clearing rubbish from around the pump track, skate park and surrounding area.

Two members of the group even stepped up to help lead the activity, showing real confidence and responsibility along the way.

It was a brilliant chance for the group to work together, learn new skills and see the difference they can make in their own community.

🚒 Fire & Rescue visit at Partington Youth Centre

Young people at Partington Youth Centre recently welcomed the Altrincham Fire and Rescue team for two hands-on sessions as part of our Safety & Wellbeing curriculum. 🔥

Across our Play and Youth sessions, 18 young people learnt more about fire risks in their local area, the role of the Fire & Rescue Service and why they are such an important community resource. The sessions also helped young people recognise firefighters as trusted adults they may encounter in an emergency.

After a presentation from the team, our younger members had the chance to climb inside the fire engine, while the Youth group got hands-on and had a go with the hoses! 🚒💦

The sessions also opened up some really important conversations around local incidents, including deliberate bin fires and the impact these can have on other people in the community.

A big thank you to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and the team for giving our young people such an informative and memorable experience. 👏

𝗔 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀! 🥾💙

A group from Norbrook Youth Centre recently headed to Ormside Mill Residential Centre for a weekend of new experiences, exploration and plenty of memories.

One of the highlights was a trip into the Lake District, exploring Hodge Close Quarry and Cathedral Quarry, including making their way through the old quarry tunnels by candlelight. 🕯️

There was also time for walking, outdoor activities, Kelly Kettles and a well-earned hot chocolate before heading back to Ormside for an evening together.

Residential experiences like this give our young people the chance to try something different, spend time together away from their usual surroundings and build confidence through new experiences.

A huge thank you to Ormside Mill Residential Centre for looking after the group and helping make it such a memorable weekend. 💚

Great spaces don’t look after themselves, and the places where young people feel safe, welcome and inspired really matter.

We’re looking for a practical, organised and hands-on Estates & Facilities Lead to help keep GMYF’s buildings, grounds, facilities and vehicles safe, well maintained and ready for everything our teams and young people do.

From routine inspections and basic maintenance to coordinating contractors, supporting compliance, site security and fleet management, this is a varied role for someone who spots what needs doing and makes it happen.

📍 Based at Melland Youth Centre, Gorton, with travel across our other Greater Manchester centres and Ormside Mill in Cumbria
🕒 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We’re looking for an experienced 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 to lead the team at 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗲.

This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting the delivery of high-quality youth work while leading the team, overseeing safeguarding and centre operations, building strong partnerships and helping us create even more opportunities for local young people.
