The Festival takes place 3rd &4th August 2012 at TV21, Manchester. (10 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1DH) WHAT IS MUSIC UNDER THE TREE FESTIVAL? The First Ever Music Under The Tree Festival Takes Place Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August. THE STORY BEHIND MUSIC UNDER THE TREE FESTIVAL:-
The Outreach Project, a local Manchester band wanted to use their music to get involved in a charity called 'Scho
ol Under The Tree' set in Awasa, Ethiopia, Africa. (Registered Charity Number: 1146128)
So after a brainstorm, the lads decided to hold a 2 day/evening festival in Manchester City Center, and went in search of a venue.(All proceeds from ticket sales and any other fundraising method used would go to School Under The Tree)
The Outreach Project came accross the suitable venue called TV21, in Manchester (Northern Quarter), so the 4 piece Manchester band organised a meeting with the owner of the venue 'Adrienne Bennet' in order to hold the festival at TV21... After a 2 hour meeting between the band and Adrienne Bennet (Owner of TV21) it was only Moments after the meeting when TV21's Adrienne Bennet contacted the Upcoming Manchester band via email and confirmed that the lads could use the venue for the festival. The venue did have it's rightfull doubts/concerns in letting a handfull of teenage lads organising a 2 day festival in the venue. The band told their school (St. Bede's College) about the festival and ideas they had, and the headmaster of the School (DJ Kearney) Wrote a cheque of up to £300 for the hire/pa system as the festival was for a good cause and a charity the school support. It was only a few weeks and The Bill for the festival was complete in next to no-time and were still recieving requests from acts/bands wanting to play the festival but sadly, there was no room. (Due to a couple of drop outs, the acts/bands requesting to play the festival did get their chance)
The Festival is a great success and Raised £500+ for School Under The Tree! WITH MASSIVE THANKS TO ALL ACTS & BANDS THAT HAVE GAVE UP THEIR TIME FOR FREE OF CHARGE TO PERFORM AT MUSIC UNDER THE TREE FESTIVAL OVER THE COURSE OF THE 2 DAYS:
