Joely blogs her thoughts on 'get well' cards for mental health:

"It would be brilliant if the greetings card industry branched out in its messages on ‘Get Well’ cards. It seems insensitive to wish somebody a ‘speedy recovery’, if recovery will be slow ... To say ‘get better soon’ could be inappropriate if the illness is chronic or fluctuating in nature. In an ideal world, there would be more pre-printed cards with messages such as “I’m sorry things are rubbish, but I’m here for you”."

Close friends and family sent me regular short letters. Another few cards were sent from other people who had experienced hospital stays or eating disorders

A useful campaign and site for yourself, family & friends...

Supporting friends or family when they're going through mental health problems isn't always easy...but it is always worth it. So our final tip this week is:

This is a patient's awareness campaign to advocate for change to the NHS in the UK. This is an important petition as it shows the societal need for progress with this diagnosis, via understanding it and treating it through research.

Conversion disorder is a condition in which a person can have neurological symptoms that cannot be explained by medical evaluation. For example; blindness, paralysis, seizures, loss of speech or other nervous system symptoms.

Conversion disorder is currently poorly understood and so it is hard to treat, this can leave sufferers isolated in finding appropriate guidance.

Convert is a Conversion Disorder Charity that aims to provide this guidance through building awareness, education and peer to peer support to those diagnosed with Conversion Disorder.
