NUM is a national organisation that provides greater access to justice and protection for s*x workers

NUM is a pioneering and innovative project which provides greater access to justice and protection for s*x workers who are often targeted by dangerous offenders but are frequently unwilling to report these incidents to the police. These offenders are often mobile serial s*xual predators with escalating behaviour who use s*x workers as ‘test’ victims as they believe that they won’t report to the po

lice. They go on to commit further crimes against s*x workers and others in the wider community. The gap in intelligence caused by the underreporting of these crimes has huge consequences for the safety of the wider public. Coming soon: Racial Justice Project e-Learning 📣

For the past two years, we’ve been working alongside racialised s*x workers to understand the barriers, discrimination, and inequalities they experience when accessing public services.

Through research, focus groups, and community conversations, we’ve brought together lived experience and evidence to create a new e-Learning programme for professionals working across public services. Launching at the end of July!

Designed with racialised s*x workers at the centre, this training will support practitioners to reflect on their role in creating safer, more inclusive, and more accessible services.

☑️ Community Drop-in
Caseworker Louise is running casual online sessions for people to build their networks, and connect with each other. Pop in for 5 minutes, or stay for the whole session.

☑️ Tax Return Body Doubling
Get started on your tax return in the company of your colleagues! Life admin is tough to get going, but it doesn't have to be a struggling to complete. A caseworker will support you with any questions. Join via Zoom or head to our Glasgow wellbeing space, NUMbrella Lane.

☑️ Vocational Support Accelerated Course - a 3-in-1 Workshop!
Our condensed vocational knowledge for sx workers in just 1 workshop. Understand where you want to be and how to get there. The session explores tools used by mainstream recruiters and how your experiences evidence your skillset, CV tips to showcase your talents from lived experience AND mainstream work, and so much more!

It's WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY ✨15th July 2026
Young people are facing high levels of unemployment, fewer entry level jobs and little recognition of the value they can bring to the workforce. Around one million young people are classed as NEET (not in education 🎓, employment 🧑‍💼 or training 🛠️), yet 84% of those reported wanting to be in a job or training for one.

The Youth Justice project provides young adults opportunities to contribute and work to demand better prospects, and the Vocational Support service works alongside SWers from all backgrounds to help them recognise their skills and amplify their achievements.

Today, and every day, NUM recognises the skills, strengths and perspectives that young adults bring to the table 🗣️🎉

It's our birthday!🎈

Starting out as a pilot scheme on 5th July 2012, National Ugly Mugs has grown to be the UK's largest sx worker support service.
On top of our core violence prevention tools, NUM is fortunate to host community spaces across the UK, introduce a SW-led Vocational Support Service, launch projects focussed on Racial Justice and Youth Justice, and provide specialist SWISVA support to survivors of harm 💗

Our work simply could not continue without the trust and insights of the very community we serve. We are endlessly grateful to our 10K members, who trust in us, and share their knowledge and experiences to keep sx workers safe.

Today, we begin another year fighting for decriminalisation and the end of all forms of violence against sx workers. Thank you for fighting alongside us ☂️

Accelerated Vocational Support Workshop
WEDNESDAY JULY 29TH - 1:30-4:00pm

Safe and judgement free career support to reach your goals both within and outside of the sx industry. Plan a journey that suits you, showcase your skillset from sx work & mainstream roles, and more!

This session is an accelerated version of our 3 workshop series designed by sx workers, for sx workers, to provide space for anyone who does sx work to explore their career, financial and educational goals – and how to make these happen!

This collaborative session takes place on Zoom, and runs for approximately 2.5 hours with time for discussion and breaks.

Register in the Members' Area.
The workshop is just for NUM members to ensure we host a safe community space, as always.

Online drop-ins in June (sx workers only)

Wednesday 17th June, 1-4pm

Sx work can be isolating, especially when just starting out or living in areas where the industry feels less visible. We often hear from members who want to build their network and meet fellow workers, but just don't know where to begin.
Caseworker Louise runs monthly online drop-ins as a way for members to connect with one another. Wherever you are, you have a place here 💌

This month, Louise is joined by the Vocational Support Service for an informal chat about work plans and goals. If you are a UK SWer interested in dropping by, contact [email protected] for joining details.

At National Ugly Mugs, we stand with carers across the UK to receive recognition and support for their needs. Too often, we see carers being underrepresented and missed out of vital conversations with policy makers and stakeholders.

Carers may enter sx work as a way of supporting their family, to work flexibly around busy schedules, and for financial stability. Many of our members are carers for someone in their life.

We take this time to look at the systems in place and ensure that NUM, alongside other organisations, delivers adequate support to unpaid carers and that our service and community spaces are welcoming to all 💌

Frontline Network Annual Conference 2026
Join for a free online conference on Tuesday 23rd June.

"Now in the ninth year, the Frontline Network Annual Conference brings together frontline practitioners, experts by experience, sector leaders and academics from all four nations of the UK for a day of learning, solidarity and inspiration."

Drawing from the National Ugly Mugs' Racial Justice Project and Basis Yorkshire’s frontline experience, the session will explore how the homelessness sector and frontline workers engage with criminalised and heavily stigmatised communities, including sx workers, racialised and migrant communities, and people who use substances.

This session will explore the impact of stigma and re-traumatisation within systems. Attendees will leave with practical considerations towards more inclusive and accessible service provision for those affected by social exclusion.

Themes will include:
⭕️ Trust-building and disclosure
⭕️ Recognising hidden needs
⭕️ Harm reduction principles
⭕️ Reducing non-othering practices
⭕️ Problematising ‘conditional access barriers’ “exit sx work first”, “stop using substances first”
